Requirements
  • Complete at least two years of study at an accredited institution of higher education, equal to 60 semester hours; obtain an associate's degree or higher from an accredited institution; or meet the required rigorous academic assessment standard.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics, or reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness as appropriate.
  • Meet an approved assessment pathway, including the Basic Skills Examination or approved SAT scores, the ETS Parapro Assessment with a passing score of 460, or qualifying WorkKeys scores.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student records and student information.
Responsibilities
  • Provide supplemental instructional support to eligible students.
  • Deliver interventions based on instructional plans developed by the Title I Teacher and/or General Education Teacher through small-group or individualized instruction, tutoring, guided practice, or other teacher-directed techniques.
  • Report intervention outcomes to the Title I Teacher and/or General Education Teacher by keeping daily student outcome reports.
  • Administer assessments and screeners used to determine Title I eligibility, create interventions, monitor progress, and exit students from the Title I program.
  • Attend parent/teacher conferences as needed to support communication about student performance, behavior, or other topics.
  • Maintain student files as requested and required by federal, state, and local guidelines to track student progress.
  • Maintain activity logs and time-and-effort documentation that comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate with Title I Teachers and General Education Teachers regarding the progress of and concerns about Title I students.
  • Serve as an active member of teams such as the Response to Intervention team, data team, Positive Behavior Support team, and school improvement team.
  • Assist the teacher in communicating and upholding behavior and conduct expectations in the school-wide behavior management plan.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and secure classroom environment.

  • Provide evidence of successful experience in student and parent relations through prior personal or professional experience.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in an instructional support capacity through prior tutoring, teaching, or similar work experience.
