Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited program in Invasive Cardiovascular Technology or Electrophysiology with an Associate’s Degree is required.
- Possess one of the following certifications: Cardiovascular Credentialing International Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist certification, Cardiovascular Credentialing International Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist certification, or International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners Certified Electrophysiology Specialist certification.
- Two years of cath lab experience is preferred, but recently certified graduates may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
- Maintain all required certifications and licenses as current and valid before their expiration dates.
- Complete all mandatory company modules and required job-specific training within the specified timeframe.
- Comply with applicable state and federal regulations, statutes, and company policies.
- Report safety-related incidents through the Midas/RDE tool and perform work safely.
Responsibilities
- Obtain and review examination requisitions, including the requested procedure, special notes or comments, and patient condition.
- Review worksheets and patient questionnaires related to the examination before beginning.
- Interview patients before procedures to obtain medical history and other information, and document relevant information in the electronic medical record.
- Transfer patients to the examination table while ensuring they are properly clothed and covered.
- Place immobilization and supportive devices to promote patient comfort and precise positioning.
- Ensure lead shields and protective clothing are properly positioned and adjusted for staff and providers.
- Maintain patient comfort while obtaining the desired results.
- Receive and relay physician orders to the registered nurse for placement in the patient's electronic medical record.
- Assist with cardiovascular, vascular, electrophysiology, and hybrid procedures.
- Use electrophysiology stimulation and pacing equipment.
- Perform manual and mechanical hemostasis.
- Use closure devices.
- Identify cardiac rhythms.
- Participate in physiological monitoring of patients.
- Support patients and families by communicating the need for referrals to social services, case managers, and other resources.
- Provide and document education for patients, families, and the healthcare team.
- Document interventions, patient responses, and status changes in the electronic medical record and communicate them to the healthcare team.
- Monitor the work environment for potential safety issues and ensure others perform work safely.
- Attend required safety-related training programs.
- Archive images according to protocols.
