Requirements
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Pass and obtain the food handling class certification.
  • Use a computer and/or point-of-sale kiosk for food orders.
  • Read, write, and speak English in an understandable manner and carefully follow written and oral instructions.
  • Sit, stand, bend, lift, and move intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Maintain good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.
  • Manage and cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
  • Work closely with ill, disabled, elderly, and emotionally upset people.
  • Maintain professional competence through participation in programs, seminars, and training.

  • Report all accidents and incidents to the supervisor, regardless of severity.
  • Attend and participate in scheduled in-service classes and on-the-job programs.

  • Protect the privacy and confidentiality of protected health information in accordance with the company's Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act medical privacy policy.
  • Perform tasks safely, sanitarily, and efficiently in accordance with established procedures.
  • Follow the facility safety program.
  • Maintain accountability for data contained in the Employee Handbook.
  • Report exposure to blood or body fluids containing visible blood to the supervisor during the shift in which the incident occurs.
  • Be familiar with universal precautions, including frequent hand washing and glove use.
  • Understand that the position includes Category II tasks that may involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.
  • Understand and use universal precautions and appropriate protective measures for Category I tasks.
  • Perform all job-classification functions without posing a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace.
  • Complete the Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse screening.
Responsibilities
  • Provide courteous and professional meal service to residents and their guests in the dining room.
  • Assist with kitchen cleaning as required.
  • Preset or reset tables after each dining experience.
  • Ensure trays contain the required items.
  • Take residents' food orders and relay them to the kitchen staff for fulfillment and service.
  • Remove trays and stack dishes for return to the kitchen after meals.
  • Prepare and serve food items, soups, and beverages to residents.
  • Verify that guest checks are completed accurately and thoroughly.
  • Follow serving and cleaning procedures in the facility manual.
  • Learn and explain the daily menu.
  • Maintain and organize the work area.
  • Follow daily sanitation cleaning schedules.
  • Provide takeout service to residents when assigned.
  • Recognize residents' food preferences and promptly notify the hostess or host of problems.
  • Use established infection-control procedures and universal precautions.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
