Requirements
  • Post-secondary Certificate or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety and a minimum of 2 years of experience in a hands-on, frontline safety environment.
  • Familiarity with site safety procedures, regulations, emergency procedures, and Workers' Compensation Board requirements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Proven experience coordinating projects from inception through implementation, including maintaining appropriate documentation.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making abilities.
  • Outstanding interpersonal communication, consultation, and coaching skills.
  • Superior writing skills demonstrated through drafting materials for diverse audiences.
  • Ability to travel 40% of the year to company stores, retread plants, distribution centers, and other locations.
  • Successful completion of a background check and credit check prior to employment.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct on-site internal safety audits at designated locations twice per year using the internal auditing tool.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with certifying partners, auditors, and provincial boards, and complete required reporting.
  • Support managers at all locations with Workers' Compensation Board filings and incident investigations, and coach locations where incidents exceed the industry average.
  • Promote safety awareness as a subject matter expert through internal engagement, external marketing opportunities, and industry partnerships.
  • Research, develop, and deliver safety training programs and procedures with Learning and Development to ensure compliance with provincial regulations.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Corporate Sales, and Learning and Development to integrate safety into business practices and training.
  • Build and manage accessible tools, forms, and online resources to support safety programs across all locations.
  • Lead safety recognition programs, including COR, SECOR, and MECOR; coordinate audits and reporting; and maintain relationships with certifying partners and regulatory bodies.
  • Ensure the availability and proper use of personal protective equipment, and assemble, analyze, and maintain safety data for audits, trend reports, and proactive program improvement.
  • Support contractor pre-qualification and ensure consistent standards across third-party engagements.
Desired Qualifications
  • Certified Auditor status.
  • Several or all Canadian Registered Safety Professional courses completed.
