Indra Group USA hosted US Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy and Senator Roger Marshall at its Olathe, Kansas, factory on October 14, 2026. The 118,000-square-foot facility is now fully operational. The site makes radars and NEXCOM VHF/UHF air-to-ground digital radios for Federal Aviation Administration programs. It will also produce more than 1,500 ADS-B radios and portable Tactical Air Navigation systems for the US Air Force. The facility is a $50 million investment by Indra Group and complements its 40,000-square-foot site in Overland Park, Kansas. Together they support more than 200 local jobs, doubling the company's US workforce. Indra's US teams have already delivered more than 3,500 radios and commissioned seven radar sites.
Indra Group, through its unit IndraMind, has invested €10 million in Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech, a Spanish quantum computing company. Indra wants to strengthen its position in a technology with potential in artificial intelligence, defence, and security. Qilimanjaro, founded in 2019, is Spain's only full-stack quantum computing company. It builds its own quantum chips, software, and algorithms. The funds will help Qilimanjaro scale up its systems, develop new chip generations, and increase manufacturing capacity. IndraMind plans to use the technology in robotics, physical AI, and simulation of complex systems. The Spanish Society for Technological Transformation has also made a new investment. Qilimanjaro expects to close its funding round in the last quarter of the year, with Avançsa and existing investors taking part.
Barcelona quantum startup Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech has raised €19.6 million in the first close of a funding round. Indra Mind put in €10 million through a mandatory convertible loan, and Spain's Sociedad Española para la Transformación Tecnológica (SETT) added €9.6 million. A second and final close is planned for year-end, aiming for €40 million or more. Indra will then convert its loan into shares, taking about 5% of the company. Founded in 2019 as a spin-off from the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, the University of Barcelona and the Institute for High Energy Physics, Qilimanjaro has built four quantum computers. It rents out its technology to large companies and earned €5.5 million last year. The company has more than 80 staff and plans to hire about 40 more. Next year it aims to raise €100 million to €150 million, open a Chicago office and expand in Madrid.
Indra has acquired 100% of Dares Technology, a Barcelona-based company specialising in synthetic aperture radar and advanced image processing. The Spanish multinational aims to strengthen its capabilities in radar systems, unmanned vehicles, and defence technologies. Founded in 2015 in Castelldefels, Dares Technology emerged from the European Space Agency's business incubation centre. The company develops high-precision imaging technology that can detect surface changes of just centimetres, useful for topographic mapping, border surveillance, and infrastructure monitoring. Indra plans to integrate Dares's compact, high-performance radar into its Tarsis Class I drones for the Armed Forces. The acquisition brings 27 specialists to Indra's Centre of Excellence for Radars. The deal marks Indra's latest expansion move, following its recent 30% acquisition of technology firm TRC. Indra reported €5.457 billion in revenues for 2024.
Indra Group will exhibit at APTAtech 2026 in St Louis from 9–12 August, showcasing its smart ticketing solutions for North American transit agencies. The Spanish mobility technology company recently secured a $16 million contract with Bi-State Development to replace ticket vending machines across 38 MetroLink light rail stations in Missouri and Illinois. The new machines feature enlarged screens, full accessibility, and AI-ready technology designed for extreme weather conditions. Indra will also highlight its contract with Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, valued at up to $75 million, to overhaul automatic ticket vending systems across 98 stations. The project includes designing, manufacturing, and maintaining up to 450 customer terminals over 15 years. The company is manufacturing equipment for these projects at its new production facility in Olathe, Kansas.
