Requirements
  • A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation.
  • One to three years of experience working in makerspaces, fabrication labs, libraries, galleries, museums, archives, schools, community centers, or another related educational setting.
  • Competence and sensitivity in working with individuals who are highly diverse regarding gender, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, ability, income, educational attainment, and religion.
  • Knowledge of design or fabrication using multimedia technology, including prototyping, laser cutting, 3D printing, digital or AutoCAD design, and audio technologies.
  • Capacity or skill to instruct learners, including student assistants, students, faculty, and staff.
  • Capacity or skill to create instructional content, including guides, handouts, presentations, and lesson plans.
  • Capacity or skill to communicate effectively with others, including engaging non-technical audiences with technical concepts.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, partners, or stakeholders, including building positive relationships and identifying and resolving issues effectively.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the School of Medicine Library's makerspace.
  • Provide expert instruction for groups using emerging and multimedia technologies for educational and research purposes.
  • Provide personalized consultation on multimedia use, creation, and application.
  • Conduct outreach to faculty, students, residents, fellows, campus partners, and stakeholders.
  • Exercise leadership in developing and evolving emerging and multimedia technologies and services that support knowledge creation.
  • Investigate and evaluate emerging technologies for potential adoption.
  • Develop online learning objects.
  • Coordinate projects.
  • Engage in professional development.
  • Help train student employees who support multimedia creation and use at the School of Medicine Library.
Desired Qualifications
  • A computer science, instructional technology, or multimedia-related degree.
  • Experience developing program or workshop activities involving multimedia or emerging technology topics.
  • Proficiency with emerging or multimedia technologies, including prototyping, laser cutting, 3D printing, digital or AutoCAD design, and audio technologies.
  • Strong organizational or project management skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot emerging or multimedia technologies.
  • Ability to evaluate, assess, or recommend new emerging or multimedia technologies.
