Requirements
  • Solid, hands-on experience in mechanical or electromechanical fabrication or modular plant construction.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, isometrics, general arrangement drawings, electrical schematics, and data sheets.
  • Competence with precision measurement, pressure-testing rigs, torquing methods, and basic electrical test equipment.
  • Familiarity with welding quality, including WPS/PQR/WPQR, material traceability, and typical non-destructive testing methods.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management systems and project documentation controls.
  • Strong communication skills and comfort working on the shop floor and with clients and inspectors.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee and coordinate incoming, in-process, and final inspection activities to ensure adherence to quality standards.
  • Optimize quality-control efficiency and effectiveness by implementing sound quality-sampling methods.
  • Perform dimensional checks against general arrangement drawings and isometrics, including bolt torque, gasket type, flow direction, and tagging.
  • Oversee non-destructive testing coordination, review reports, and close out findings.
  • Ensure builds conform to specifications, P&IDs, isometrics, and applicable codes, including ISO 9001 quality management systems, PED/UKCA requirements, ASME/EN pipework standards, and electrical standards.
  • Maintain device and heat-number traceability and control calibrated instruments and welding consumables according to procedure.
  • Create and own inspection and test plans, quality plans, inspection checklists, and weld maps; manage nonconformance reports, concessions, and corrective actions.
  • Produce data books and turnover dossiers, including material test certificates, welding procedure specifications and qualification records, welder logs, non-destructive testing and pressure-test records, electrical test certificates, and factory/site acceptance test reports.
  • Lead the nonconformance report management system using 5 Whys and Ishikawa analysis, with measurable effectiveness checks.
  • Use statistical process control defects, first-pass yield, and defect Pareto analysis to target chronic issues such as gasket seating, torque scatter, and cable terminations.
  • Feed manufacturability improvements back to Design through poka-yoke, standardization of valves and instrumentation, and clearer isometrics and bills of materials.
  • Coach welders, fitters, and assembly technicians on inspection criteria, pressure-test safety, cleanliness standards, and electrical and instrumentation test methods.
  • Participate in daily stand-ups and readiness reviews and provide quality status and risk visibility to project managers and Production.
  • Host client and third-party inspectors, manage hold and witness points, and close comments professionally.
Desired Qualifications
  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a similar field.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification, prior experience with statistical process control, and corrective and preventive action.
  • Experience with PED/UKCA, ASME B31.x and EN piping codes, pressure-testing standards, ATEX considerations, and building-management-system/input-output factory acceptance tests.
  • Electrical and instrumentation familiarity, including continuity and insulation-resistance testing, loop checks, and basic variable-frequency-drive setup.
  • Experience with quality-management systems such as ISO 9001 workflows and nonconformance/corrective-action systems, including EtQ, Intelex, or Jira.
  • Experience with drawing and data tools such as Autodesk Inventor, Plant 3D, Navisworks, and Microsoft Office 365.
  • Experience using calibrated pressure gauges, recorders/data loggers, torque tools, multimeters, and insulation testers.
