Requirements
  • C.N.A. certification or experience as a caregiver.
  • A high school diploma or GED.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Basic reading and writing skills and the ability to speak English.

Responsibilities
  • Assist residents with all areas of care as assigned by the Director of Assisted Living or designee, in partnership with the health services team.
  • Adhere to and convey the organization's philosophy of person-centered care and Genuine Hospitality.
  • Maintain a professional appearance, manner, and approach while on duty.
  • Wear a name tag and uniform, and follow the organization's cell phone policy.
  • Report to work on time and as scheduled according to community policies and procedures.
  • Receive report from the previous shift and review the Care Staff Assignment and End of Shift report for information and changes before providing resident care.
  • Document care provided in CareStream according to policies and procedures.
  • Provide a report to the oncoming shift and document it in the End of Shift Report and CareStream before leaving the shift.
  • Complete incident reports when needed.
  • Sign out and carry equipment such as a radio, tablet, and keys at the start of the shift.
  • Answer resident call lights, doors, and alarms promptly.
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living, encouraging and promoting self-care to the extent possible, as needed or assigned.
  • Encourage and assist residents with individual and group program activities.
  • Assist residents with meals, housekeeping, and laundry services as needed, requested, or assigned.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, comfortable, and safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
  • Provide high-quality resident care and recommend ways to improve quality.
  • Observe changes in residents' physical or mental status and communicate them to the Director of Assisted Living, LVN/LPN, or manager on duty.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies involving residents, staff, or visitors and follow applicable policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and follow infection-control policies and procedures.
  • Be familiar with fire, missing resident, and other emergency procedures, and follow community policies and procedures detailed in fire and disaster plans.
  • Maintain appropriate confidentiality of resident and family information.
  • Attend and participate in training and team meetings as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
