Requirements
  • A minimum BS or BA degree in business, industrial engineering, distribution, or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of ten years of experience in distribution or production is required.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in a management or supervisory position is required.
  • Knowledge of industrial engineering, human resources laws and regulations, and employee relations is required.
  • Experience managing other managers is required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications, including Excel and PowerPoint, and enterprise resource planning systems is required.
  • Knowledge of commercial and employment law applicable to the position is required.
  • The employee must regularly lift or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 40 pounds.
  • The employee must be able to work around moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and electrical shock risks in operations or laboratory areas.
Responsibilities
  • Manage all plant distribution efforts to ensure products are delivered in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Maintain standards for product quality, equipment, and operator performance, use cost-effective technology, preserve fixed assets, and recommend equipment purchases and plant-property improvements.
  • Develop, monitor, and report operating costs within functional areas; alert management to cost and labor overruns and implement solutions.
  • Ensure orders are fulfilled according to specifications and develop and enforce quality processes meeting or exceeding customer standards.
  • Advise supervisors on labor issues, including safety, security, employee relations, scheduling, and training, and ensure compliance with company policy.
  • Manage budgets and control expenses.
  • Maintain current knowledge of information and technology affecting functional areas to improve innovation and compliance.
  • Provide site leadership for the Richmond, Virginia operations as a member of the site leadership team.
  • Develop department goals and lead continuous-improvement initiatives.
  • Build efficiency into operations processes as a change agent to drive yearly productivity improvements.
  • Determine the cadence and operating rhythm for quarterly site operations reviews.
  • Revise objectives and plans in accordance with current business conditions.
  • Direct the Operations Team by setting and monitoring targets.
  • Plan and manage expense and capital budgets within the Operations function.
  • Communicate with sales and other branch departments to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Lead all operations leadership for the division.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws, including Occupational Safety and Health Administration and Department of Transportation requirements.
  • Interview, hire, and train employees; support employee development; plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; reward and correct employees; and address complaints and resolve problems.
