Requirements
  • Proficiency in target languages according to Interagency Language Roundtable standards from Level 0+ to Level 4+.
  • Knowledge of Second Language Acquisition and Adult and Continuing Education methodologies.
  • A bachelor's degree in Linguistics, Foreign Language, Education, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience teaching language at various proficiency levels.
  • Experience developing lesson plans and Programs of Instruction for language acquisition programs.
  • Army Training Certification Tracking System certification.
  • Operational Security training and Cyber Awareness training.
  • Privacy Training certification.
  • A valid security clearance may be required depending on the assignment location.
  • Advanced proficiency in at least one foreign language, including speaking, listening, and reading skills at Interagency Language Roundtable Level 3 or higher.
  • Strong instructional skills, including lesson planning and curriculum development.
  • Familiarity with technology-enhanced learning tools, including learning management systems, interactive whiteboards, and multimedia.
  • Ability to assess learner progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, in English and the target language.
  • Interpersonal skills to work effectively with military personnel of various ranks and backgrounds.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Adobe.
  • Cultural competency in military environments and regional dynamics.
  • Problem-solving skills to address diverse learning needs and barriers to language acquisition.
  • Organizational skills to track learner progress and comply with reporting requirements.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, mission-critical environment.
  • Ability to teach in an immersive and technologically supported environment.
  • Ability to work in in-person, online, and hybrid teaching environments.
Responsibilities
  • Deliver targeted language instruction to U.S. service members to enhance language proficiency in alignment with Defense Language Proficiency Test goals.
  • Design and develop lesson plans and Programs of Instruction tailored to military language needs.
  • Integrate culturally relevant and mission-specific content into language instruction.
  • Create immersive learning environments using multimedia tools, online systems, and digital media.
  • Monitor and assess language learning progress and provide feedback to service members and program managers.
  • Implement Second Language Acquisition methodologies for different learning styles and proficiency levels from Interagency Language Roundtable Level 0+ to Level 4+.
  • Maintain accurate training records and reports covering training hours, content, and service member progress.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development aligned with Department of Defense guidelines and instructional standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure cohesive training delivery and quality-assurance compliance.
  • Work products must be thorough, accurate, appropriately documented, and compliant with established criteria.
  • Perform duties in a competent and professional manner that meets milestones and delivery schedules.
