Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics, Foreign Language, Education, or related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in teaching language at various levels of proficiency, preferably in a military or government setting
  • Experience in developing lesson plans and Programs of Instruction for language acquisition programs
  • Army Training Certification Tracking System certification
  • OPSEC Training and Cyber Awareness Training (formerly IA/IT)
  • Privacy Training certification
  • Valid security clearance may be required depending on assignment location
  • Advanced language proficiency in at least one foreign language, including speaking, listening, and reading skills at ILR 3 or higher
  • Strong instructional skills, including lesson planning and curriculum development
  • Familiarity with technology-enhanced learning tools (e.g., learning management systems, interactive whiteboards, multimedia)
  • Ability to assess learner progress and adjust instruction accordingly
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, in English and the target language
  • Interpersonal skills to effectively work with military personnel of various ranks and backgrounds
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Products (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, & Adobe)
  • Cultural competency, particularly in understanding military environments and regional dynamics
  • Problem-solving skills to address diverse learning needs and barriers to language acquisition
  • Organizational skills to track learner progress and ensure compliance with reporting requirements
  • Adaptability to work in a dynamic, mission critical environment
Responsibilities
  • Deliver targeted language instruction to U.S. service members, enhancing language proficiency in alignment with Defense Language Proficiency Test (DLPT) goals
  • Design and develop lesson plans and Programs of Instruction (POIs) tailored to military language needs
  • Integrate culturally relevant and mission specific content into language instruction
  • Create immersive learning environments using multimedia tools, including online systems and digital media
  • Monitor and assess language learning progress and provide feedback to service members and program managers
  • Implement Second Language Acquisition (SLA) methodologies to address different learning styles and proficiency levels (ILR 0+ to 4+)
  • Maintain accurate training records and reports for training hours, content, and service member progress
  • Participate in ongoing professional development, ensuring alignment with DoD guidelines and instructional standards
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to ensure cohesive training delivery and quality assurance compliance
  • Travel may be required for onsite instruction at military bases
  • Work in a military training environment with a focus on immersion

Desired Qualifications
  • Proficiency in target languages as per ILR standards (from Level 0+ to Level 4+)

  • Experience in military language training programs, preferably in a DoD or government environment
