Journeyperson Instrumentation Technician
About the job
- Journeyperson certification in Instrumentation or a related trade.
- Typically at least five years of experience in instrumentation installation, support, and testing within a fabrication environment.
- Experience working on compression and processing equipment packages is an asset.
- Must pass a functional alcohol and drug test before onboarding.
- Must pass pneumatic testing before onboarding.
- Experience with greater-than-one-inch stainless steel tube fabrication, electric benders, ORFS tube assemblies, and tube fitting for welders is an asset.
- Applicable tooling is required.
- Install, support, and test tubing.
- Interpret technical drawings, prepare reports, and collaborate with production staff to optimize system performance and reliability.
- Install and mount instruments.
- Perform factory acceptance testing and commissioning of flow meters, pressure gauges, and related instruments.
- Lay out skids using P&IDs, general arrangement drawings, and customer specifications.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.
- Conduct pneumatic testing of tubing to ensure workmanship and quality.
- Prepare documentation according to company standards and meet deadlines.
- Participate in toolbox meetings, conduct risk assessments, and implement mitigation measures.
- Share knowledge with and mentor junior technicians.
- Assist with training programs and mentorship initiatives.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support effective communication and task execution.
- Interact professionally with internal customers, vendors, and inspectors.
- Support continuous improvement.
- Work with other trades to optimize unit design.
