Requirements
  • A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.
  • For New Jersey positions, graduation from an accredited post-secondary medical assisting education program with at least 330 hours of instruction and training in intramuscular and subcutaneous injections is required.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills are required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is required.
  • Familiarity with medical office procedures is required.
  • Ability to travel to various assigned locations is required.
  • Knowledge of customer communication practices, tools, and techniques is required.
  • Knowledge of common medical equipment and the ability to use it in patient care is required.
  • Knowledge of health information relevance and appropriate documentation methods is required.
  • Ability to read and interpret patient charts, including medication sheets, diets, medical history and physicals, and tests, is required.
  • Knowledge of clinical skills needed for patient care, including history taking, therapeutic planning, and monitoring, is required.
  • Knowledge of factors contributing to quality patient care and the ability to influence those factors positively is required.
  • Certified Medical Assistant certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants is required within 180 days.
  • The ability to lift and carry 40–50 pounds, stand and walk frequently to continuously, and perform role-specific physical activities such as kneeling, bending, squatting, and CPR is required.
Responsibilities
  • Escort patients to examination rooms and ensure proper patient identification.
  • Perform and document vital signs, clinical care quality measures, and medical history information.
  • Use and document information technology systems within the established scope of practice.
  • Assist physicians with examinations and diagnostic procedures, including electrocardiograms, venipuncture, and injections, using appropriate clinical skills.
  • Adhere to HIPAA privacy and security requirements.
  • Order clinical supplies to maintain inventory and support smooth office operations.
  • Work regularly at three or more locations within the assigned area as a float resource.
Desired Qualifications
  • Basic Life Support certification through the American Red Cross may be acceptable at some physician assistant practice locations.
  • For internal Einstein applicants, Medical Assistant certification is not required for current Einstein employees in a Medical Assistant role hired before July 1, 2024.
