Requirements
  • A high school degree or equivalent is required.
  • Three years of general or industrial electrical maintenance experience is required.
  • A working knowledge of electrical systems, including generators, automatic transfer switches, motor control centers, drives, motors, distribution centers, and distribution panels, is required.
  • Level 1 Thermography certification must be completed within one year of hire and maintained thereafter.
  • The employee must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and temperature extremes, in elevated areas, confined spaces, and below ground.
  • The employee must be physically qualified for respirator use as required.
  • The employee must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds, operate hand tools and powered tools, and perform the listed physical activities safely.
  • The employee must be able to operate MUSC Health vehicles and maintain required visual, hearing, color-perception, and dexterity abilities.
Responsibilities
  • Monitor, maintain, adjust, and repair electrical distribution systems to ensure the safety and reliability of emergency and normal power systems.
  • Repair or install electrical motors, lighting fixtures, lighting circuits, electrical disconnects, starters, panels, breakers, generators, transformers, and other equipment.
  • Use modern testing equipment to troubleshoot electrical apparatus.
  • Support, install, and repair electrical apparatus during emergencies, urgent situations, and call-back situations.
  • Use the provided software to create infrared reports as required.
  • Install conduit, wire mold, and other raceways; pull wire; and install lighting systems, control panels, and other electrical equipment in new and existing buildings.
  • Read paper or digital blueprints.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and safety checks on high-voltage equipment, electrical power panels, automatic transfer switches, and emergency power generators.
  • Support scheduled electrical outages and resolve unscheduled electrical outages, including power failures and planned maintenance shutdowns.
  • Perform other related duties and maintain clean, organized workspaces and job sites.
