Requirements
  • At least 1 year of experience working as a court reporter.
  • Prior court-reporting experience and equipment are required; no training is provided.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong attention to detail, punctuality, deadline orientation, organizational and time-management ability, problem-solving ability, communication ability, and proficiency with technology.
  • Excellent English language skills.
  • Ability to pass security screening for access to client sites, including government buildings.
Responsibilities
  • Take down proceedings using machine shorthand, voice, or digital capture.
  • Capture verbatim proceedings of courts, meetings, depositions, and hearings.
  • Administer oaths and participate in depositions, hearings, and other legal proceedings.
  • Transport, set up, and operate equipment to capture the record accurately.
  • Prepare for assignments by building job worksheets, reviewing case information, and ensuring proper hardware setup.
  • Secure all exhibits, perform required file backups, and complete and upload required worksheets at the close of proceedings.
  • Maintain required reports and logs and respond promptly to communications.
  • Represent the company professionally in proceedings and interactions.
  • Interact with high-level federal government, state government, and private-industry clients.
Desired Qualifications
  • National Court Reporters Association, American Association of Electronic Reporters and Transcribers, or National Verbatim Reporters Association certification is strongly preferred.
