Requirements
  • An associate’s degree, bachelor’s degree, or military equivalent program in Biomedical Engineering, Electronics, Electronic Technology, or another related field is required.
  • At least two years of experience repairing and maintaining medical equipment is required; an approved equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
  • A valid driver's license and willingness to drive to various network locations are required.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, electronic theory and technology, and test equipment is required.
  • Ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, parts diagrams, and other technical information is required.
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology and medical terminology as related to clinical equipment is required.
  • Knowledge of current regulatory requirements is required.
  • Knowledge of computers, servers, networks, and Windows operating systems is required.
  • Ability to stand for up to eight hours per day, walk for up to four hours per day, sit for extended periods, use hand tools, lift and carry up to 60 pounds, occasionally push or pull objects over 300 pounds, and climb ladders up to 20 feet is required.
Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled maintenance, electrical safety testing, and functional testing on medical equipment according to departmental and manufacturer protocols and specifications.
  • Repair defective medical equipment to meet or exceed manufacturer specifications.
  • Oversee manufacturer or third-party vendors as required.
  • Support equipment and devices maintained by the department.
  • Provide overall instrumentation support in assigned clinical areas.
  • Diagnose and correct system and equipment malfunctions.
  • Maintain accurate records of all work performed and complete entries and paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Participate in staff in-service educational programs.
  • Participate in pre-purchase equipment evaluation programs as required.
  • Provide technical consultation to other department personnel.
  • Evaluate equipment failures to identify trends, design problems, and use problems.
  • Perform authorized equipment modifications and design and fabricate specialized devices.
