  • A bachelor's degree is required.
  • Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy program is required.
  • At least 3 years of experience in upper-extremity rehabilitation and outpatient therapy is required.
  • A current state physical therapy or occupational therapy license is required.
  • A Certified Hand Therapist credential is required.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification is required.
  • Advanced knowledge of upper-extremity anatomy and biomechanics is required.
  • Clinical reasoning and problem-solving ability are required.
  • Orthotic design and fabrication skills are required.
  • Patient-centered communication, time management, and documentation accuracy are required.
  • The ability to mentor staff and students is required.
Responsibilities
  • Perform initial and ongoing assessments of patients' conditions and establish plans of care.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions appropriate to each patient's age and disability.
  • Document delivery of Occupational Therapy services.
  • Direct and supervise activities of Occupational Therapy Assistants, students, and support personnel.
  • Design, fabricate, fit, and adjust custom orthoses and splints for hand and upper-extremity conditions.
  • Educate patients on orthosis wear, care, and precautions.
  • Treat patients with orthopedic, traumatic, burn, tendon, nerve, and postoperative conditions.
  • Provide scar management, edema control, wound care, and return-to-work rehabilitation as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with hand surgeons, orthopedic physicians, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary care planning and case discussions.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Doctor of Physical Therapy or Doctor of Occupational Therapy is preferred.
  • Experience in orthopedic and post-surgical rehabilitation.
  • Knowledge of work conditioning and work hardening programs.
  • Experience with custom orthotic fabrication.
  • Leadership, mentoring, or clinical education experience.
