Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Strong computer proficiency and data entry skills are required.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment, including telephones, fax machines, photocopiers, and other office technology, is required.
  • Ability to interact professionally and courteously with patients, families, physicians, laboratory personnel, outside agencies, and other hospital staff is required.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion is required.

  • Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to accuracy are required.
Responsibilities
  • Register patients accurately and efficiently while obtaining all required demographic and insurance information.
  • Enter laboratory orders into the Laboratory Information System with a high level of accuracy.
  • Receive, process, and route laboratory specimens to the appropriate testing departments to support timely workflow.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls and respond professionally to requests for laboratory reports, test results, and other inquiries.
  • Maintain accurate records while protecting patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff, physicians, nursing units, and other departments to support efficient patient care and laboratory operations.
  • Perform additional clerical and administrative duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous coursework or training in computer applications, office administration, or secretarial studies is preferred.
  • Two to three years of clerical, administrative, medical office, or healthcare registration experience is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are preferred.
