Requirements
  • A Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner degree is required.
  • Nurse Practitioner candidates must graduate from a Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education accredited nursing program with a Master’s Degree in Nursing.
  • Nurse Practitioner candidates must hold national certification from a recognized Advanced Practice Registered Nurse certification center.
  • Nurse Practitioner candidates must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a professional Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
  • Certified Nurse Operating Room certification is required for Nurse Practitioner candidates.
  • Basic Life Support certification is required, with additional Advanced Life Support training at the department’s discretion.
  • Physician Assistant candidates must hold a Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree as a Physician Assistant.
  • Physician Assistant candidates must graduate from an Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant approved training program.
  • Physician Assistant candidates must hold certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
  • Physician Assistant candidates must be licensed or eligible for licensure by the Physician Assistant Board of Medicine.
Responsibilities
  • Assess, diagnose, treat, and manage patients within the applicable scope of practice and specialty.
  • Deliver evidence-based, patient-centered emergency medicine care.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals as a member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Promote positive patient outcomes and maintain professional and regulatory standards.
  • Support the clinical, educational, and operational goals of the department and organization.
  • Provide comprehensive outpatient clinical care to patients in an emergency medicine capacity.
  • Establish preventive health practices for patients.
Desired Qualifications
  • Emergency medicine or urgent care experience is preferred.
