Duke Eye Center’s Clinical Research Unit is seeking a Clinical Research Specialist, Senior to join our growing clinical research team. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work alongside ophthalmology physicians, clinical research coordinators, research participants, sponsors, and multidisciplinary teams supporting a diverse portfolio of industry-sponsored clinical research studies.

The Clinical Research Specialist, Senior will provide critical support to the clinical research team with a primary focus on identifying and screening potential research participants, entering and maintaining accurate study data, and assisting with the resolution of data queries. This position will work closely with clinical research coordinators and study teams to help ensure timely, accurate, and complete study data and support the successful execution of clinical research studies.

The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical research environment. This role provides an opportunity to develop and expand clinical research expertise while contributing to studies that advance new treatments, technologies, and approaches to improve outcomes for patients with eye disease.

Minimum Requirements: 

• Work requires an Associate’s degree

Essential Job Duties

• Screen potential research participants by reviewing medical records, referrals, and clinical information to identify patients who may meet study eligibility criteria.
• Support clinical research coordinators with study activities, including participant identification, scheduling, and preparation for research visits as needed.
• Perform accurate and timely data entry into clinical research databases, electronic data capture systems, and other study-related systems.
• Assist with data query resolution by reviewing source documentation, identifying discrepancies, and working with study teams to ensure accurate and complete data.
• Maintain high-quality research data and documentation in accordance with study protocols, regulatory requirements, and Duke Eye Center policies.
