Responsibilities
  • Manage the Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs, including implementation of the City’s 1% for Art ordinance and other planning efforts related to arts and cultural initiatives.
  • Coordinate consultant selection, contracting, and procurement.
  • Interpret ordinance requirements.
  • Provide technical assistance.
  • Support the Oklahoma City Arts Commission.
  • Provide stewardship of the city’s public art collection.
  • Perform arts and cultural planning.
  • Perform administrative and technical functions in support of assigned job functions.
  • Assess abstract and concrete variables to coordinate project efforts for long-range or current planning programs, requirements, or proposals.
  • Provide verbal and written administrative and technical instructions to promote the efficiency of work projects.
  • Attend meetings and represent the City and department as a participant on or advisor to boards, commissions, official policymaking bodies, and citizens’ groups.
  • Review complex data, study trends, collect information, and prepare specialized reports or documents based on in-depth knowledge and research.
Desired Qualifications
  • Possession of a bachelor's degree or higher in environmental design, urban design, urban planning, architecture, landscape architecture, public administration, arts administration, public art studies, or a related field.
  • Eight or more years of combined professional experience in public or nonprofit administration, arts and cultural administration, or design/construction project management.
  • Experience in consultant selection; contract development, negotiation, and management; and construction project management, including independent oversight of projects with minimal supervision.
  • Experience developing public art or cultural plans and studies.
  • Experience working with elected and appointed officials, allied arts and arts advocacy organizations, and internal and external stakeholders to accomplish project goals, including delivering public presentations to varied audiences.
  • Experience in customer service or client-facing roles.
