Requirements
  • Students must be rising juniors with an anticipated graduation date of May 2028; other grade levels will not be considered.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA.
  • Interest in exploring a career within the insurance industry.
  • Ability to communicate strongly in verbal and written formats.
  • Willingness to work in the Morristown office five days per week during Summer 2027 and live locally, with no relocation assistance provided.
Responsibilities
  • Gain an understanding of the claims process through an apprenticeship with a senior claims professional who provides mentorship and ongoing performance feedback.
  • Gain exposure to claim files and litigated cases.
  • Participate in meetings with personnel from all levels of the organization regarding issues that may impact claims or underwriting.
  • Participate in ongoing claims investigations by performing assigned tasks.
  • Participate in claims roundtable sessions to discuss investigation findings, recommendations for additional work, and claims evaluation.
  • Attend mediations, trials, and other court sessions with claims personnel.
  • Interface with external vendors, including defense and coverage lawyers.
  • Collaborate with underwriters and other departments across the organization.
  • Assist with claim data collection to provide underwriting with account-specific information and help identify industry-wide claim trends.
