Requirements
  • At least 5 years of equipment sales experience.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent work experience is required.
  • Extensive knowledge of John Deere and competitive equipment, as well as technology trends and advancements.
  • In-depth knowledge of farming and agronomic practices and trends, including key customer account agronomic operations.
  • Knowledge of business, financial, and logistical management.
  • Ability to work flexible and extended hours, including weekends.
  • Ability to use standard desktop applications such as Microsoft Office, internet functions, and dealer business systems.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional customer service skills, including the ability to communicate effectively by phone or email.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to multitask.
  • Strong listening and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven sales skills, including the ability to assess customers and close sales quickly.
  • Ability to negotiate a sales deal when an offer is being made.

Responsibilities
  • Manage key customer account relationships to provide a differentiated customer experience.
  • Proactively assess, clarify, validate, and communicate key customer account needs on an ongoing basis.
  • Develop solutions for key customer accounts that save time, reduce risk, and increase profits.
  • Develop contact plans that meet the individual needs of key customer accounts.
  • Meet or exceed sales volume goals and sales objectives for assigned key customer accounts.
  • Influence customer trade cycles and appraise current and future needs.
  • Update and retain relevant customer account information, including equipment and operational information, in the customer relationship management system.
  • Engage with dealership personnel from the Integrated Solutions, Parts, Service, and Administration teams to promote resources such as John Deere Operations Center and TRUConnect.
  • Represent the dealership in selling equipment, aftermarket products, and technology-based products and services to assigned customer accounts while following a defined sales process.
  • Evaluate used equipment and trade-ins according to the TRULAND used equipment process.
  • Maintain product knowledge of all equipment and services available to customer accounts.
  • Maintain knowledge of financing and risk-management options to help customers secure equipment or service solutions.
  • Maintain and communicate knowledge of customer account operational requirements, including agronomic, turf-industry, and business goals.
  • Monitor and promptly communicate competitive activity to management.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute equipment field demonstrations, including completing demo survey registration.
  • Coordinate the dealership’s Integrated Solutions and Aftermarket Support teams to deliver value to key customer accounts.
  • Attend applicable internal and external sales and operational training events and seminars.
  • Maintain assigned company vehicles and equipment when applicable.
  • Assist with product-support functions during peak seasons.
  • Track customer interactions in an Excel spreadsheet or customer relationship management database.
  • Assist with inter-store transfers and requests.
