Requirements
  • A current Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which services will be provided or a current multistate Registered Nurse license through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact is required.
  • Basic Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
  • Three years of clinical experience are required.
  • The employee must meet the Department of Labor's medium-duty standard, including exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly.
  • The employee must be able to bend, stoop, reach, and perform normal rotation, standing, and walking for an 8- to 10-hour shift.
  • The employee must be able to perform varied work assignments accurately, work independently, and communicate effectively.
Responsibilities
  • Provide complex technical nursing care for assigned patients under the supervision of the Registered Nurse Ambulatory Care Supervisor or providers.
  • Serve as the administrative lead under the supervision of the Ambulatory Care Supervisor.
  • Adhere to UPC/WVUH-E and individual practice policies, procedures, and regulations, including attendance, confidentiality, and compliance requirements.
  • Admit patients to the practice and perform clinical duties, including taking and recording vital signs and assisting medical care providers in the clinical area.
  • Screen patients to determine the need for medical attention.
  • Take patient histories.
  • Assist medical care providers in developing appropriate plans of care for patients.
  • Maintain professional nursing expertise to meet patients' medical needs.
  • Use multidisciplinary resources in response to patient and family needs, including patient and family education.
  • Organize tasks consistent with patient care needs.
  • Facilitate collaborative care for patients.
  • Provide mentoring to nursing staff.
  • Coordinate direct-care activities among nursing staff and front-office staff.
  • Ensure proper staffing of front-office and nursing staff for the medical practice associated with the urgent-care facility.
  • Contribute to staff reviews and evaluations.
  • Follow hospital, state, and federal guidelines to ensure a safe environment for workers, patients, and the public, and ensure staff compliance with hospital, governmental, and insurance regulations.
  • Communicate and interact professionally with clients, families, visitors, physicians, departmental and hospital staff, and the public.
  • Participate in assessing and improving services and compliance with regulatory requirements, and report assessment and improvement results to appropriate administrative levels.
  • Accept assignments within the scope of practice, skill set, and level of competence.
  • Travel between facilities and buildings as needed.
  • Work a variable schedule based on business needs.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree is preferred.
  • One year of experience in a medical office setting is preferred.
