Role Overview

Harbinger Motors is seeking a Firmware Engineering Intern to support the development of firmware for our motor control systems. This role provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in embedded software development, motor control algorithms, and real-time system integration. You'll work alongside experienced engineers and contribute to the advancement of our electric vehicle technology.

Job Responsibilities:

Assist in developing, testing, and debugging firmware for motor control applications.
Work with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded software for motor control units (MCUs).
Implement and optimize control algorithms for electric motors.
Support communication protocols such as CAN, SPI, UART, and I2C.
Participate in firmware validation and verification through simulation and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing.
Document code, write test cases, and support software integration efforts.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware, controls, and systems engineers.

Required Skills:

Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
Experience with C/C++ for embedded firmware development.
Understanding of motor control principles, including BLDC and PMSM motors.
Familiarity with microcontrollers (MCUs), DSPs, or FPGAs.
Basic knowledge of control systems, power electronics, and signal processing.
Strong debugging skills using tools like oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and debuggers.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Matlab/Simulink for control system modeling.
Knowledge of Field-Oriented Control (FOC) for electric motors.
Hands-on experience with hardware testing and embedded software validation.
Exposure to ISO 26262 functional safety or AUTOSAR.
