Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Two years of related experience are required; facilities maintenance experience is preferred.
  • Ability to read and follow manufacturer and other published instructions.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to operate and perform repair or maintenance on equipment.
  • Computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to plan and estimate time and materials.
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to occasionally push or pull tables, scaffolds, and cabinets, including work from ladders and aerial lifts.
  • Ability to understand polarity, 110-volt voltage, and 208/220-volt voltage and follow the lockout/tagout program.
  • Availability to respond to building emergencies and work off-shift hours, including weekends, as requested by the supervisor.
  • Ability to demonstrate customer service and student advocacy through approachability, adaptability, problem-solving, and support for student success.
  • Ability to work within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.
Responsibilities
  • Perform assigned work orders in a timely manner and provide timely updates in the online work order system.
  • Assist with the operation and maintenance of assigned equipment, including heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems.
  • Perform cyclical preventive maintenance tasks and maintain reporting documentation.
  • Assist the supervisor with cyclical safety inspections.
  • Assist the supervisor with managing the key system.
  • Clean and maintain assigned areas and equipment.
  • Open and secure buildings as required.
  • Respond to building system alarms and intrusion alarms.
  • Alert appropriate personnel to system and building alarms.
  • Report facility deficiencies, needs, and failures to the supervisor.
  • Suggest methods and means for best practices and process improvements.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance as directed.
  • Perform assigned seasonal outdoor tasks.
  • Load, unload, and deliver equipment and supplies.
  • Move furniture and equipment as assigned.
  • Assist with installing copper water lines, drain lines, and fixture repairs or replacements.
  • Assist faculty and staff as required.
  • Assist students, faculty, and staff with directional, security, and safety information.
  • Perform purchasing activities for the Facilities department and maintain adequate inventory of approved products.
  • Operate building automation software proficiently.
  • Assist with construction projects involving drywall, painting, and flooring.
  • Assist with installing conduit, wiring circuits, receptacles, switches, and controls.
  • Respond to building emergencies and work off-shift hours, including weekends, when requested by the supervisor.
