Ability to pass state and/or federal background checks before the hire date.

Cognitive ability to discern accuracy and apply it to work as necessary.
Physical and cognitive ability to operate a motor vehicle.
Ability to report suspected child abuse to a supervisor or teacher and make the required report to Child Protective Services.
A valid Washington State Driver’s License is required to operate company vehicles or other vehicles for company business.
Ability to obtain proof of insurability for operating an automobile.
First Aid/CPR certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment.
A Food Worker Permit must be obtained within 90 days of employment.
An initial physical exam must be completed within 90 days of employment.
Tuberculosis testing is required upon employment and before contact with children.
Current immunizations required under Washington Administrative Code must be obtained upon hire.
Responsibilities
Report to and accept assignments from the Site Supervisor or teaching staff.
Assist site staff in delivering the daily program for Early Head Start and Head Start children.
Prepare the learning environment.
Perform food preparation as needed.
Participate in requested trainings and meetings.
Notify the supervisor of absences with as much advance notice as possible.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
Six months of experience working with children ages birth to five years.
Experience working in a childcare setting.
Recognition of and compassion for people with low incomes.
Awareness and sensitivity regarding Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Willingness to work as a team member.
Belief that children can benefit from inclusion in a regular Early Head Start/Head Start classroom setting.
Ability to pass a Washington State criminal background check.

Job Summary
This position assists teaching staff in providing day to day care and education for children enrolled in Early Head Start and Head Start classrooms, through maintaining a safe and healthy classroom environment, building positive relationships with children and families, and following an approved developmentally appropriate curriculum which promotes school readiness skills.
