Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering in any field or equivalent experience.
  • Relevant experience in optics or electro-optics, such as designing, aligning, and troubleshooting optical equipment or building new optical systems in microscopy or similar technologies.
  • Experience performing complex data analysis on novel data using C, C++, Python, MATLAB, or a similar package.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver innovations for implementing mass photometry in next-generation instruments and submodules, including optical and electro-optical design and data-analysis approaches, from proof of concept through production handover.
  • Concept, design, build, and troubleshoot prototype optical microscopy instruments that measure single-molecule properties through light-scattering detection.
  • Analyze complex datasets collected on custom-built hardware to evaluate instrument performance.
  • Work with applications specialists, systems engineers, and software developers to deliver new designs or features.
  • Define complex technical specifications and requirements and translate them into new designs and features.
  • Scope future product and system requirements and architectures, plan their integration or upgrade, and define how they will interact with current systems.
  • Translate product requirements into technical specifications and actionable design-verification plans.
  • Own delivery of technical and customer-facing specifications for new products and systems.
  • Identify patentable intellectual property and contribute to Refeyn’s intellectual-property portfolio.
  • Monitor advances in light microscopy, light scattering, and single-molecule bioanalytics to propose novel approaches and improvements to the technology roadmap.

  • A PhD in microscopy, laser optics, or nano-optics and a degree in a related field.
  • Experience working alongside and contributing to a multidisciplinary team developing novel high-technology instrumentation.
