Requirements
  • Applicants must be at least 16 years of age.
  • At least six months of relevant work experience in sales, retail, reception, customer service, or a related area is required.
  • Strong customer service skills are required, including responding to multiple questions by phone, email, and in person.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Applicants must complete required abuse-prevention training, report suspicious or inappropriate behavior, comply with mandated reporting requirements, and pass a background check.
  • Employees must comply with the organization's abuse risk-management standards and Federal E-Verify requirements.
Responsibilities
  • Develop positive relationships by providing prompt and courteous service to members, participants, and guests.
  • Conduct membership interviews, enroll new members, and provide motivational support and guidance.
  • Process member applications, including data entry.
  • Assist members and participants with program registration and answer inquiries and member concerns.
  • Provide information about YMCA membership and programs and refer members to appropriate programs or staff based on their goals and interests.
  • Perform routine duties such as changing or distributing towels, checking locker rooms, distributing locker keys, and cleaning equipment.
  • Balance and complete reports for financial transactions.
  • Control access to the facility as needed.
  • Open or close the facility as needed.
  • Support branch member-engagement and retention activities.
  • Provide guidance and support for assigned at-risk members and accurately maintain related records.
  • Follow up with prospects who have not joined, as assigned.
  • Follow up on new-member survey feedback, as assigned.
  • Attend required staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of and previous experience with diverse populations, including differences in language, culture, race, physical ability, and sexual orientation, is preferred.
  • Ability to speak a language in addition to English may be helpful.
