Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • At least 5 years of direct mechanic experience is required.
  • A Commercial Driver's License is required.
  • The candidate must pass a background check and drug test.
  • The candidate must have a clean Motor Vehicle Record.
  • The candidate must be able to work in adverse weather conditions and lift or carry up to 50 pounds.
  • The candidate must be available for 24-hour emergency on-call scheduling.
  • Knowledge of diesel engines, air and electrical brake systems, transmissions, electrical troubleshooting, vehicle air conditioning, and aerial lift or crane repair is required.
  • Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, Department of Transportation, and Texas regulations is required.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain and repair the company's vehicles and fleet equipment.
  • Use Fleetio fleet management software to track fleet maintenance in the shop.
  • Diagnose, service, and repair diesel engines, transmissions, brake systems, electrical systems, steering, chassis, and cooling systems.
  • Repair and maintain aerial devices, cranes, dozers, and other industry-specific equipment.
  • Perform scheduled vehicle maintenance and inspections.
  • Operate and test repaired equipment to confirm that specifications are met.
  • Diagnose equipment repair needs through regular inspections.
  • Maintain accurate records of vehicle repairs.
  • Perform manual labor using tools to mount toolboxes, license plates, GPS units, registration stickers, toll tags, and related equipment.
  • Comply with applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the direct supervisor.
  • Travel approximately 20% of the time.
Desired Qualifications
  • Technical automotive trade certification is preferred.
  • At least 2 years of wire and stick welding experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with parts vendors is preferred.
