About the job

Requirements
  • At least 10 years of progressive leadership experience in hardware manufacturing operations, New Product Introduction, and quality engineering within high-tech electronics, computer hardware, or complex electromechanical industries.
  • Direct experience establishing and scaling overseas manufacturing facilities or extended factories, particularly in Taiwan, China, or Southeast Asia, and managing Tier-1 electronics manufacturing services or contract manufacturing partners.
  • Deep understanding of electrical fabrication, including surface-mount technology lines, printed circuit board assembly testing, in-circuit test and functional circuit test fixtures, and thermal management.
  • Deep understanding of mechanical processes, including precision machining, die-casting, custom tooling, and injection molding.
  • Expert knowledge of advanced quality tools, including Lean Manufacturing, statistical process control, 8D problem solving, failure mode and effects analysis, and Gauge Repeatability and Reproducibility. Six Sigma Black Belt is preferred.
  • Extensive experience using product lifecycle management systems such as Arena or Agile, enterprise resource planning systems, and manufacturing execution systems.
  • A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Ability to travel globally up to 30–40% to domestic facilities and international manufacturing sites for factory launches, line audits, and critical business reviews.
Responsibilities
  • Architect and execute the global manufacturing strategy, including optimizing domestic facilities and launching and stabilizing overseas extended factories.
  • Drive operational handoffs of complex hardware products from design engineering into high-volume manufacturing and establish New Product Introduction playbooks.
  • Drive line balancing, automation initiatives, and factory layout designs to optimize throughput, maximize capital expenditure efficiency, and reduce cycle times.
  • Manage technical execution at Tier-1 contract manufacturers and original design manufacturers, and partner with Supply Chain to hold vendors accountable to operational service-level agreements.
  • Own and continuously improve the global Quality Management System across manufacturing sites and external partners, ensuring compliance with relevant international standards.
  • Embed Design for Manufacturability, Assembly, and Test early in product development and implement Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis and control plans at all factory levels.
  • Drive statistical process control on the factory floor, analyze test data, and root-cause and eliminate component-, printed circuit board assembly-, and system-level failures.
  • Lead global failure analysis and Corrective and Preventive Action processes for manufacturing escapes and field returns, ensuring engineering feedback loops are closed.
  • Build, mentor, and lead an international team of Manufacturing, Test, and Supplier Quality Engineers.
  • Define, track, and regularly report operational metrics—including First Pass Yield, Cost of Poor Quality, Overall Equipment Effectiveness, Scrap Rate, and Field Defect Rates—to the VP of Operations and executive leadership.
Desired Qualifications
  • An MS in Engineering or an MBA is highly desirable.
  • A Six Sigma Black Belt is preferred.
