Requirements
  • Education equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor's degree in sociology, psychology, or a related field.
  • Over 2 years of experience working with juveniles.
  • Knowledge of agency policy and procedure and how they relate to the division and to Title 10 of the Oklahoma Statutes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; and present information and respond to questions from groups, clients, customers, and the public.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic and compute rates, ratios, percentages, and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to solve practical problems involving a variety of concrete variables and interpret written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule-based instructions.
  • Valid Oklahoma driver's license held for at least six months.
  • Complete Defensive Driving through Tulsa County within six months of hire.
  • Ability to meet the stated physical demands, including occasional lifting or moving more than 100 pounds.
  • Ability to work in the stated environmental conditions, including outdoor weather, extreme temperatures, wet or humid conditions, and occasional fumes or airborne particles.
Responsibilities
  • Provide daily intensive supervision of youths in the Intensive Supervision Program through personal and telephone contacts.
  • Work with families, schools, probation counselors, and community resources to help youths remain trouble-free outside the secure detention facility.
  • Develop working knowledge of community resources, including recreational programs, neighborhood centers, and school and work opportunities.
  • Appear at court hearings with youths and make recommendations regarding eligibility for placement in the Intensive Supervision Program.
  • Prepare a daily log of youths' activities and behavior while in the Intensive Supervision Program.
  • Supervise juveniles on Court Deferred Adjudication status.
  • Prepare and file petitions and motions in cases requiring further legal action.
  • Make recommendations to the judiciary and other authorities regarding release, detention, or further legal action.
  • Arrest Intensive Supervision Program clients when warranted under Oklahoma Statute 10A-2-4-105.
