The Trade Desk stock rises 3% after announcing 15% workforce cut, $39M-51M restructuring costs

The Trade Desk announced plans to cut roughly 15% of its workforce as part of a restructuring programme, sending shares up about 3% in early trading on Friday. The digital advertising company expects the job reductions to be largely completed during the third quarter of 2026. Management anticipates cash expenses of approximately $39 million to $51 million, primarily for severance and employee benefits. Some costs may be offset by a $4 million to $5 million reversal in stock-based compensation. The company will record the restructuring accrual in the third quarter. The Trade Desk noted final costs could differ from current estimates as the workforce plan unfolds. The initial share price reaction suggests investors view the restructuring as an effort to improve cost discipline.

The Trade Desk cuts 15% of staff as shares plunge 70% and executives depart

The Trade Desk is laying off 15% of its workforce, affecting over 500 employees. CEO Jeff Green announced the restructure aims to organise the company into "smaller pods and smaller scrums, but with greater focus." The adtech firm reported disappointing quarterly results last month, with revenue growing just 3% year-on-year and missing Wall Street expectations. Its shares have dropped around 70% over the past year. The company has experienced significant executive turnover, with recent departures including its CFO, CRO, CSO, CMO, and four board members. It also faced a high-profile dispute with customer Publicis Groupe, which was settled in June. Green said the company remains financially healthy with approximately $1.5 billion in cash and no debt, positioning the restructure to enable "greater agility, focus, ownership, and speed.

LoopMe integrates with The Trade Desk to help advertisers measure brand impact.

LoopMe integrates with The Trade Desk to help advertisers measure brand impact. Published on: 3rd September 2026 at 9:44 AM LoopMe has integrated with The Trade Desk's Measurement Marketplace, bringing its patented Brand Lift measurement directly to The Trade Desk customers, giving advertisers a consistent and scalable way to measure brand impact across markets, all within their existing campaign workflow. Brand lift measurement is often underserved or simply unavailable. Where it does exist, minimum campaign requirements can put it out of reach for smaller campaigns and markets. And for advertisers measuring across multiple regions, working with different vendors and methodologies can make it difficult to build a consistent view of performance. As a result, global brands can measure some of their activity, some of the time, but getting a comparable view of brand impact across markets remains a challenge. The integration is "designed to remove some of the barriers that have traditionally made global brand measurement difficult to scale". "In many markets, brand lift measurement is simply not an option for advertisers," commented Matthew Deets, VP demand partnerships at LoopMe. "If it is available, it rarely allows the scope of measurement needed to truly understand results across regions. Our partnership with The Trade Desk helps address these challenges, providing the rigorous standards needed to trust uplift data, while remaining lightweight and scalable enough to be actionable across multiple regions at once. We're proud to deliver these capabilities in partnership with The Trade Desk team." Donny Spano, director, data partnerships at The Trade Desk, added: "We remain committed to advancing the industry by providing advertisers with sophisticated tools and capabilities, particularly within our global infrastructure. "We are pleased to extend LoopMe's international reach and scalability to a broader range of clients and global campaigns." LoopMe Brand Lift measures real consumers rather than recruited panels, surveying users within voluntary mobile ad breaks. Control groups are matched using LoopMe's patented RISA algorithm across 100+ variables, helping advertisers understand the incremental impact of their campaigns with statistically rigorous measurement. Through the direct API integration, advertisers can set up and launch their study without leaving The Trade Desk. Study parameters are passed directly to LoopMe, where measurement is deployed and results are fed back into The Trade Desk dashboard, eliminating separate logins, accounts and reporting workflows. LoopMe launches Brand Lift integration with The Trade Desk.

LoopMe launches Brand Lift integration with The Trade Desk. LoopMe, the global leader in brand performance, has today (2nd September, 2026) announced a new integration with The Trade Desk's Measurement Marketplace, bringing its patented Brand Lift measurement directly to The Trade Desk customers, giving advertisers a consistent and scalable way to measure brand impact across markets, all within their existing campaign workflow. Brand lift measurement is often underserved or simply unavailable. Where it does exist, minimum campaign requirements can put it out of reach for smaller campaigns and markets. As a result, global brands can measure some of their activity, some of the time, but getting a comparable view of brand impact across markets remains a challenge. LoopMe Brand Lift within The Trade Desk is designed to remove some of the barriers that have traditionally made global brand measurement difficult to scale: Measure consistently across markets: Run standardised brand lift measurement across 35+ markets and 17 languages, creating a more comparable view of global campaign performance. Measure more campaigns: Studies can be feasible from just 1 million impressions, compared with provider minimums of 3-4 million impressions in many markets, making smaller campaigns and markets more easily measurable. See results while campaigns are still running: Lift data is updated every 24 hours directly within The Trade Desk's dashboard, beginning as early as 10 days after launch, with reporting across age, gender, device, creative, ad group and campaign ID. Keep measurement within your existing workflow: Book studies during standard campaign setup in The Trade Desk, with no separate contracting or additional platform required. "In many markets, brand lift measurement is simply not an option for advertisers," commented Matthew Deets, VP demand partnerships at LoopMe. "If it is available, it rarely allows the scope of measurement needed to truly understand results across regions. Trade Desk launches Kokai Zuma with agentic AI tools.

Trade Desk launches Kokai Zuma with agentic AI tools. Fri, 28th Aug 2026 (Today) The Trade Desk has launched Kokai Zuma, a new version of its Kokai advertising platform, adding agentic AI tools and updated measurement features. The release is the latest update to Kokai, which The Trade Desk introduced in 2023 for planning, buying and measuring advertising across the open internet. The changes are intended to make the system easier to use for advertisers managing campaigns across multiple channels, formats and devices. Kokai Zuma combines visible interface changes with behind-the-scenes updates to forecasting and modelling. The Trade Desk said it has invested in the AI systems underpinning Kokai to improve predictions of available inventory and campaign outcomes, while supporting the new automated tools inside the product. According to the company, the revised modelling and forecasting have delivered an average 32% improvement in cost-per-acquisition performance. The figure offers one of the clearest indications yet of how The Trade Desk plans to justify further investment in AI-led automation in media buying software. AI features A central part of the release is Koa, the AI system used across The Trade Desk's platform. It analyses more than 20 million ad impressions each second and now supports a broader set of automated functions within Kokai Zuma. Among the new additions is Koa Assistant, a conversational interface that can help users create campaigns, build audiences, troubleshoot issues and analyse performance. The company also introduced specialist Koa agents designed to automate campaign tasks, identify opportunities for changes and help users act more quickly within the system. The update also expands AI use in audience creation. The Trade Desk said Koa can identify relevant untapped audience segments to broaden campaign reach, a feature likely to be particularly relevant for advertisers using Audience Unlimited, its audience planning tool linked to data providers in its marketplace. Another feature focuses on frequency optimisation. Koa adjusts exposure settings based on campaign goals and results, aiming to reduce manual work while improving delivery. Measurement changes The Trade Desk has also revised reporting and measurement tools in Kokai Zuma. The changes include updates to Conversion Lift, which assesses the effect of advertising on conversions, as well as additional reporting dimensions intended to give users more detail when planning campaigns. The reporting homepage has been redesigned to surface commonly used reports, saved templates and generated files more quickly. A revised Report Builder is intended to make customisation easier and give users more visibility into available dimensions. The changes reflect a broader issue in digital advertising, where marketers face increasing pressure to show which placements and channels are producing results. By simplifying access to reporting and lift studies, The Trade Desk is seeking to make its platform more useful to media buyers who need both automation and clearer evidence of performance. Workflow redesign Alongside the AI and measurement updates, Kokai Zuma changes how the product is navigated. Refreshed advertiser, campaign and ad group views are designed to highlight key metrics and trends more clearly. A new Applied Settings View brings targeting parameters into one place so users can see what may be driving or limiting spend. Bulk editing has also been updated so traders can preview the likely impact of changes before applying them across campaigns. These workflow revisions show the company is trying to address operational friction as much as analytical complexity. In practice, many media teams spend significant time moving between campaign settings, performance reports and targeting controls, so interface changes can affect day-to-day efficiency as much as underlying bidding models. Jeff Green, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of The Trade Desk, described the release as the next step in the company's platform strategy. "Kokai changed the way digital media is bought and sold programmatically, and Zuma builds on that foundation, making our platform faster, simpler and smarter," said Green. He said AI and usability were central to the update. "AI is helping our customers move faster than ever, while making measurement more intuitive and actionable. We've listened closely to our users about what they need to navigate an increasingly fragmented digital media ecosystem, and Zuma brings those learnings into Kokai. We're continuing to build the platform that advertisers deserve - one that removes friction from the work, puts agentic AI to practical use and gives them a clearer view of the outcomes their media dollars are driving," Green added. Industry analyst Karsten Weide gave a positive assessment of the changes. "This is impressive," said Karsten Weide, Principal and Chief Analyst at W Media Research. He added: "It's great to see The Trade Desk go full-bore on agentic, and the performance gains are real numbers. That's encouraging - this is real change." The release underlines how advertising technology companies are increasingly repositioning AI from a background optimisation tool into a more visible operating layer for campaign management, reporting and decision-making. The Trade Desk is now tying that shift to measurable campaign outcomes.
