  • Ability to monitor the safety and well-being of students, especially during inclusive activities.
  • Ability to maintain a clean and orderly instructional environment, classroom order and discipline, files, and records.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in oral and written form using varied communication techniques and tools.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school staff, students, parents, external agencies, vendors, and the community.
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Culinary Arts, Dietetics, Food Service Management, Nutrition, or Baking and Pastry, and two years of related work experience; or an associate's degree and four years of related work experience.
  • Hold or be qualified to hold a North Carolina Professional Educator's License in the teaching content area according to the NCDPI CTE manual.
Responsibilities
  • Plan and provide appropriate classroom learning experiences for Food and Nutrition I, Food and Nutrition II, Food Science and Technology, and CTE Advanced Studies.
  • Create an atmosphere conducive to students' intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development.
  • Supervise students in a variety of school-related settings.
  • Monitor and evaluate student outcomes.
  • Communicate and interact with students, parents, staff, and the community.
  • Develop, select, and modify instructional plans and materials to meet students' needs.
  • Maintain appropriate records and follow required procedures and practices.
  • Monitor the appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Serve as an adviser or co-adviser for the school's Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America chapter.
  • Use traditional and alternative assessment strategies aligned with WCPSS curriculum and standards to support continuous learner development.
  • Use communication techniques with students, parents, and other stakeholders.
  • Engage in planned continuous professional quality improvement for self and the school.
  • Use techniques and strategies that promote critical and creative thinking.
  • Implement classroom instructional strategies and materials reflecting students' cultures, learning styles, special needs, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Establish and maintain a classroom management system and a positive learning environment supporting students' intellectual, personal, and social development.
  • Plan, align, implement, and evaluate instruction and assessment across varied learning settings.
  • Collaborate with peers, parents, the community, and other stakeholders to improve students' classroom educational experiences.
  • Integrate appropriate technology into teaching and learning.
  • Ensure adherence to safety practices.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
