GoDaddy revoking 404,607 TLS certificates following compliance failures.

GoDaddy revoking 404,607 TLS certificates following compliance failures. GoDaddy launched a mass revocation of 404,607 SSL/TLS certificates after finding that issued certificates did not match its published certificate policies. The company missed its required revocation deadline, creating a second compliance issue. An updated customer notice says the incorrectly issued certificates were revoked on October 21, 2026. The incident affects certificates issued under GoDaddy and Starfield certificate chains. Customers still using an affected certificate may face browser security warnings or website access problems until they install a replacement, according to GoDaddy's customer guidance. Receiving a replacement alone does not confirm that the website is using it. GoDaddy revoking 404,607 TLS certificates. According to the original incident report, a third party flagged differences between issued certificates and the profiles described in Starfield's Certificate Policy and Certification Practice Statement, known as CP/CPS. These documents set out the rules the certificate authority follows when issuing certificates. The differences involved certificate policy information, including policy object identifiers, or OIDs, and CPS URI policy qualifiers. These fields identify certificate policies and reference the authority's published practices. The issued certificates did not match the documented profiles. The reports describe a compliance failure, not a confirmed theft of private keys. GoDaddy stopped certificate issuance after confirming the report. Its investigation uncovered additional differences across affected profiles. The company corrected and published its documentation before resuming issuance. Further checks found similar problems in the older Starfield G2 chain, which was no longer actively issuing certificates. Domain validated certificates made up most of the affected population. Starfield R1 DV accounted for 208,896 certificates, while Starfield G2 DV accounted for 187,159. Smaller numbers of organization validated and extended validation certificates were also affected across the GoDaddy and Starfield chains. GoDaddy missed the revocation deadline. The delayed revocation report cites Section 4.9.1.1 of the TLS Baseline Requirements. For the stated policy violation, affected certificates should be revoked within 24 hours and must be revoked within five days, except for short-lived subscriber certificates. The specified revocation reason is "superseded." GoDaddy began contacting subscribers on October 14. Its outreach included customers holding large certificate inventories and organizations providing government, financial, and health services. However, only 170,566 certificates had been revoked when the October 18 deadline passed at 23:45 UTC. By 05:29 UTC on October 19, the revoked total had reached 227,422. GoDaddy said dedicated teams were handling customer contact, replacement, revocation, and progress tracking through email, SMS, and phone calls. Its later customer notice states that the incorrectly issued certificates were revoked on October 21. Affected administrators should review the SSL certificate section of their GoDaddy account and follow any replacement notice. GoDaddy warns that an updated certificate can exist in the account while the domain continues serving the old certificate. Customers receiving an installation alert should download and install the replacement immediately. The case echoes earlier DigiCert certificate revocations following a DNS validation error, although the underlying failures differ. It also highlights the operational concerns covered in Cybersecurity News' report on certificate mismanagement. Update defenses against new malware as soon as it appears. GoDaddy, Google and Cloudflare unveil AI agent trust system.

GoDaddy, Google and Cloudflare unveil AI agent trust system. techcoffeehouse GoDaddy, Infoblox, Google and Cloudflare have unveiled a system for verifying the identity of AI agents as they move through a transaction, developed in partnership with Singapore's Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA). Called the Chain of Trust, the open reference architecture was demonstrated at GovWare 2026 during Singapore International Cyber Week, and is built on principles from IMDA's Model AI Governance Framework for Agentic AI (v1.5). It lets organisations discover, identify and authenticate AI agents at every step of a transaction, even when the agents involved have never interacted before and run on different platforms. Agent-led commerce is growing fast. AI agents are already being used to search for products, compare prices and make purchases on behalf of people and businesses. McKinsey & Co estimates AI agents could facilitate between US$3 trillion and US$5 trillion in global consumer purchases by 2030. The problem, according to the companies behind the project, is that most platforms today verify agents through closed systems, leaving businesses with little visibility into how an agent's identity was checked or whether it can be trusted. The Chain of Trust addresses this by building on existing, open internet standards, including DNS, OAuth and the Model Context Protocol, so trust can be verified independently across clouds and platforms rather than inside a single vendor's walled garden. Live demo simulated a flight purchase between strangers. At GovWare, the four companies demonstrated a complete agentic purchase of a flight from Madrid to Singapore between agents that had never interacted before and ran on different platforms. The buyer agent ran on Amazon Web Services, the seller agent on Cloudflare Workers, and the mandate authority and verifier agent on Google. A person approved the purchase with a passkey, which triggered a signed Agent Payments Protocol (AP2) mandate setting what the buyer agent could purchase, from whom and up to what amount. The buyer agent found the seller through DNS-based discovery, checked its identity against a public log, and verified its trust score before completing the purchase. The demo also included attempts by a look-alike seller using forged credentials, which the system stopped before any transaction occurred. "Realising the potential of agentic AI will require trusted and interoperable foundations that can support responsible deployment at scale," said Lee Wan Sie, cluster director for AI governance and safety at IMDA. "Robust agent identity will be a key part of that." "We don't need to rebuild the internet for AI agents. By extending the open standards that have connected the internet for decades, we can give agents a verifiable identity that works across platforms," said Jared Sine, chief strategy and legal officer at GoDaddy. Wei Chen, executive vice president of regulatory strategy at Infoblox, said the project extends DNS and other established internet standards to agent discovery and identity verification, "helping create a system where businesses can independently verify who they're dealing with, without relying on a single platform to decide who can be trusted." Rao Surapaneni, vice president for Gemini Enterprise and Agent Governance Platform at Google Cloud AI, and Stephanie Cohen, chief strategy officer at Cloudflare, also took part in the demonstration. The companies have published a technical case study and invited domain registrars, identity providers, payment networks and cloud and AI platforms to adopt and extend the architecture. GoDaddy expands Developer Platform, helping AI agents and developers take businesses from built to online.

GoDaddy expands Developer Platform, helping AI agents and developers take businesses from built to online. Oct 15, 2026, 09:12 ET New APIs for hosting, email and commerce give developers a connected, programmable path through one platform TEMPE, Ariz., Oct. 15, 2026 /PRNewswire/ - GoDaddy (NYSE: GDDY), the world's largest domain registrar, just released a significant expansion to the GoDaddy Developer Platform, adding APIs for hosting, professional email and commerce. Building on the domain APIs introduced in July, which now include premium domains and bulk domains, the expanded platform gives developers and AI agents a more complete, programmable path. This means users can take a project from working code to a live business, all without leaving their development workflow. For developers, AI coding tools have significantly compressed the time it takes to turn an idea into a working application. But getting that application online can still mean jumping between hosting platforms, domain settings, email configuration and commerce tools, often requiring manual setup and disconnected credentials. AI is also changing and accelerating software development, which means the infrastructure supporting those applications needs to evolve as well. By making GoDaddy's existing infrastructure programmable and interoperable, the Developer Platform gives developers and AI agents access to the services businesses need beyond the code itself. GoDaddy is making AI-powered development more accessible With the expanded all-in-one Developer Platform, developers and AI agents can use the same platform, credentials, API conventions, documentation and command-line interface (CLI) to connect with the core services needed to bring a business online. The integration of Node.js Hosting also provides users with a simplified way to publish their web apps. Using the Developer Platform, developers and AI coding agents can create, launch and manage apps without opening a dashboard. It provides a preview for the app and built-in security features including automatic HTTPS, a web application firewall, a content delivery network (CDN) and a managed MySQL database. "The next generation of businesses will be built differently," said Hemanth Guntupalli, chief technology officer of platforms at GoDaddy. "AI can turn an idea into working software in minutes, and we're building the infrastructure that lets developers and AI agents take that software the rest of the way. From code to hosting, domains, email and commerce, our customers can take their working application to a live business without breaking the flow." From APIs to a connected workflow * Domain APIs - Programmatic access to domain search and name suggestions, including standard, premium and bulk domains; domain purchase with preferred API pricing; DNS configuration; and domain management through a single platform. * Hosting APIs - Deploy and operate Node.js apps directly from the command line or through an AI agent. The Hosting API supports the full app lifecycle, from creating an app and attaching a hosting plan to publishing to production, managing secrets and reading logs. * Email APIs - Purchase professional email, create mailboxes and automate the underlying MX, SPF and DKIM configuration. * Commerce APIs - Programmatically manage your GoDaddy commerce stores, orders, catalog and customers. These capabilities are designed to work as a connected system rather than a collection of separate services. For example, a developer can work with their coding tools or AI agents to create an application or website, then call the Hosting API to create the app, attach a hosting plan and deploy it to production. From there, the agent can use the domains API to search for, purchase and configure a domain for the newly hosted project, then use the email API to purchase and configure professional email for that domain. With the commerce APIs, it can also programmatically manage the store, catalog, orders and customers. GoDaddy gives developers full control Developers can use one GoDaddy Developer Platform identity and add the appropriate product-specific scopes to their personal access token, while accessing the capabilities through REST APIs and the GoDaddy CLI. The platform also incorporates safeguards designed to keep customers in control when AI agents perform actions. Product-specific token scopes allow developers to grant only the access required for a given job. Existing account, authorization, fraud and abuse controls also apply. The platform is designed around the fundamentals developers expect from modern developer infrastructure: accessible APIs, consistent interfaces, clear documentation, usable tooling and the reliability of infrastructure already operating at GoDaddy scale. Building for an AI-driven future The expansion is part of GoDaddy's broader strategy to make it easier for the next generation of businesses to build, launch and operate online in an increasingly AI-driven world. AI can help create the application, while programmable infrastructure can help turn that application into a functioning business. "Our job is to provide the technology foundation for the next generation of AI-powered businesses. Powerful enough for developers, simple enough for business owners and seamlessly integrated so everything works together," said Guntupalli. Designed for developers. Accessible to businesses. The Developer Platform is built for developers, web agencies, technical professionals and AI coding agents managing their own GoDaddy products. GoDaddy investors face October 20 lead plaintiff deadline after 14% share drop

Robbins LLP has reminded investors of an October 20, 2026 lead plaintiff deadline in a class action against GoDaddy Inc. (NYSE: GDDY). The suit covers anyone who bought GoDaddy common stock between September 3, 2025 and February 24, 2026. The complaint alleges GoDaddy failed to disclose a heavily discounted promotion, a one-year domain registration at $4.99, which hurt total bookings growth. It says this contradicted the company's claims that its strategy to attract high-intent customers was working. On February 24, 2026, GoDaddy reported fourth-quarter 2025 bookings growth of 5%, and 7% for the full year against a stated 8%. The stock fell from $92.30 to $79.12 the next day, a drop of more than 14%. Robbins LLP represents investors on a contingency fee basis.

GoDaddy faces securities fraud lawsuits over alleged undisclosed $4.99 domain promotions

GoDaddy faces multiple securities class action lawsuits alleging the company misled investors about its go-to-market strategy and undisclosed $4.99 one-year .com domain promotions that allegedly damaged bookings and revenue growth. The legal scrutiny comes as GoDaddy expands its product suite with offerings like Node.js Hosting, part of a push toward developer- and API-led services. The fraud allegations raise questions about GoDaddy's pricing discipline and long-term margin profile. Analysts' revenue projections for 2029 range from $5.9 billion to higher figures assuming improved earnings, but the lawsuits have introduced new governance and disclosure risks. The company's investment narrative depends on its domain and small business customer base supporting steady growth whilst artificial intelligence, bundling, and buybacks enhance earnings. However, legal and reputational costs could now matter more than competitive pressures alone in the near term.
