Requirements
  • Consecutive employment in a position with comparable responsibilities within the past five years.
  • Ability to use a computer to communicate via email.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and related tools and technology.
  • Ability to speak, understand, read, and write English fluently.
  • Current competency, skills, certification, and/or licensure related to the provision of care, treatment, and services performed.
  • Ability to meet Indian Health Service educational requirements and complete mandatory annual security and privacy training.
  • Ability to provide proof of current tuberculosis, rubella, varicella, acellular pertussis, influenza, hepatitis B vaccination, and measles and mumps testing or immunization records.
  • A graduate or higher-level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required.
  • An unencumbered nursing license from within the United States is required.
  • A current Basic Life Support certification is required.
  • Ability to perform duties involving standing, walking, stooping, bending, reaching, lifting, turning, restraining confused clients, repositioning clients, transferring clients to wheelchairs or stretchers, and transporting them to other departments or facilities.
  • United States citizenship is required.
  • Eligibility for Facility Access Authorization, also referred to as Employment Authorization, by the designated United States Government security office.
  • Ability to submit to and qualify for varying levels of background investigation, up to a Top Secret or Department of Energy Q clearance.
  • Ability to complete a Financial Disclosure Statement if required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide emergency and routine general medical services to eligible children, adults, and elderly patients at White Earth Health Center.
  • Screen up to 30 patients per eight-hour workday.
  • Provide nursing services in accordance with professional nursing principles and adapt services to patients' basic and special needs using the nursing process.
  • Assess patient care needs through patient and family interviews, objective findings, health-record review, and consultation with physicians and other staff members.
  • Reassess patient needs based on responses to medical and nursing regimens.
  • Distinguish between dependent and independent nursing activities and practice accordingly.
  • Carry out delegated nursing and medical plans using critical thinking to set priorities.
  • Initiate appropriate follow-up actions to ensure continuity of care.
  • Provide comprehensive, safe, timely, and appropriate nursing care.
  • Administer physician-prescribed medications, immunizations, treatments, intravenous fluids, nasogastric suction, irrigations, and other therapeutic measures.
  • Set up, operate, and monitor specialized equipment and evaluate results.
  • Provide nursing interventions through all phases of care, including initiating emergency measures.
  • Evaluate nursing care against established standards and criteria.
  • Participate in quality-assurance activities, including nursing audits, infection control, and nursing care conferences.
  • Provide age-appropriate nursing care for neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.
  • Receive daily assignments from the supervisor or lead nurse.
  • Communicate patient-care information verbally and in writing through care plans, nursing-services reports, patient records, assignment sheets, physician rounds, patient-care conferences, and staff meetings.
  • Work eight hours per day between 8:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding recognized federal holidays.

  • Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat, data-analytic tools, and Visio.
  • Ability to learn additional business tools and technology quickly.
