About the company

Cerapedics develops and commercializes peptide-enhanced bone grafts for orthopedic and spine procedures. Its flagship product, i-FACTOR Peptide Enhanced Bone Graft, combines a small P-15 peptide attached to anorganic bone mineral (ABM) to mimic the way autograft bone heals, promoting safe and predictable bone formation. The company differentiates itself by offering a biologically guided graft that relies on clinical data to support safety and efficacy, reducing the need for autograft harvest. Cerapedics aims to improve patient outcomes by providing clinicians with evidence-based graft solutions that enhance bone healing and fusion in bone grafting procedures.

PearlMatrix bone graft receives Medicare add-on payment to accelerate lumbar fusion

Cerapedics' PearlMatrix P-15 Peptide Enhanced Bone Graft has received New Technology Add-on Payment status from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, effective 1 October 2026. The designation provides supplemental reimbursement to hospitals using novel technologies representing significant clinical advances. PearlMatrix is the first bone growth accelerator proven to accelerate lumbar fusion. A pivotal study showed more than twice as many patients achieved fusion at six months compared to those receiving local autograft alone, with higher fusion rates sustained at 12 and 24 months. The NTAP programme allows up to 65% reimbursement of additional costs for qualifying Medicare inpatient cases involving PearlMatrix. Cerapedics chief executive Valeska Schroeder said the approval may lower financial barriers for hospitals, allowing more patients access to the treatment. The product is indicated for intervertebral body fusion in skeletally mature patients with degenerative disc disease.
