About the Job

Requirements

  • Have at least five years of industry experience in a commercial, non-research environment, post Master's or PhD.
  • Have deployed machine learning into production on industrial process or sensor data.
  • Have shipped machine-learning systems end to end and at scale, including reliable, scalable machine-learning data pipelines.
  • Be able to work with sparse, drifting, miscalibrated, and partly unrecorded equipment data and determine whether it is sufficient for training.
  • Be able to choose between physics simulation, reduced-order models, and learned models, and fuse simulation with shop-floor measurements.
  • Be able to set uncertainty quantification and validation standards against qualified process windows and design experiments where machine time is costly.
  • Be able to transfer models across machines, material lots, and consumable batches.
  • Have experience building end-to-end training and inference pipelines and APIs, including with Python, PyTorch, Pandas, FastAPI, SciPy, and Kubeflow, and working with 3D point-cloud and mesh data.

Responsibilities

  • Own the machine-learning approach to manufacturing and maintenance, repair, and overhaul data, from modeling through deployment in customer production environments across cloud, on-premises, and edge systems.
  • Build production machine learning on process logs, sensor traces, inspection records, and small design-of-experiments sets, and judge whether the data is sufficient for training.
  • Choose between physics simulation, reduced-order models, and learned models, and fuse simulation with shop-floor measurements where they disagree.
  • Set uncertainty quantification and validation standards for process recommendations against qualified process windows, and design experiments where machine time is the cost.
  • Make models transfer across machines, material lots, and consumable batches.
  • Define manufacturing and maintenance, repair, and overhaul product requirements for the PhysicsX platform.
  • Lead scoping and architecture for data and machine-learning systems, and communicate results and trade-offs to senior stakeholders and process owners.
  • Build end-to-end training and inference pipelines and APIs, including for 3D point-cloud and mesh data, and mentor engineers and data scientists.
  • Travel to customer sites worldwide, averaging three to four weeks per quarter, and participate in scoping new projects and bringing new customers to PhysicsX.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in aerospace or another regulated manufacturing environment is a plus.

About the Company

PhysicsX

Physics AI platform for industrial engineering

PhysicsX uses physics-based artificial intelligence for industrial engineering, combining machine learning with physics simulations to shorten design and operation cycles for aerospace, energy, and automotive sectors. Its platform replaces multi-day simulations with near-real-time models that predict performance, helping teams test ideas faster while reducing emissions and costs. It differs from competitors by delivering physics-driven AI with fast, scalable simulations tailored to large, complex industrial systems, supported by a slate of major investors and industrial partners. The company aims to speed up product development and drive broad adoption of physics AI across industrial sectors.
