About the Job

Requirements

  • A Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong SystemVerilog and SystemVerilog Assertions skills, including the ability to read complex RTL, understand microarchitecture, and write properties that accurately capture intended behavior.
  • Hands-on experience with formal verification tools such as Cadence Jasper, Synopsys VC Formal, or Siemens Questa Formal, including building verification environments, debugging failed proofs, and improving proof convergence.
  • Practical understanding of model checking, induction, abstraction, and assume-guarantee reasoning, including how constraints and modeling choices affect proof results.
  • Ability to reason about control logic, pipelines, arbitration, buffering, and interface protocols, including reset behavior, backpressure, and concurrent transactions.
  • Strong scripting skills in Python, Tcl, or similar languages, and ability to build repeatable workflows and trace verification results to requirements and design revisions.
  • Ability to work from incomplete specifications, resolve ambiguity with designers, and make technical judgments under tape-out deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute AI-enabled formal verification plans for hardware blocks and subsystems, identifying critical properties, defining verification scope, and establishing closure criteria.
  • Work with AI researchers to build specification-to-SystemVerilog Assertions flows, including test plans and formal testbenches that capture functional requirements, interface protocols, and corner cases; review assumptions against specifications and the block's operating environment.
  • Drive proofs to completion using abstraction, decomposition, invariants, and suitable solver strategies; diagnose inconclusive results and make difficult designs tractable without hiding behavior that needs verification.
  • Debug counterexamples, isolate root causes, work with RTL designers to resolve issues, and turn bugs into regression properties for future revisions.
  • Assess verification completeness through coverage analysis, reachability checks, vacuity checks, and assumption reviews; document proven properties, open items, and where simulation or other methods are needed.
  • Build reusable verification components and automate formal regressions, result tracking, and failure triage; work with formal methods and machine learning teams to integrate checks into the AI-driven design flow.
  • Own formal verification of AI-generated chip design artifacts from early specifications through tape-out, translating design intent into assertions and building formal environments.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience owning formal verification sign-off for blocks or subsystems in a shipped chip.
  • Experience verifying AI accelerators, processor cores, cache coherence, memory systems, or interconnects.
  • Background in simulation-based verification and Universal Verification Methodology, with a practical understanding of how formal and simulation complement each other.
  • Experience building formal verification infrastructure used across multiple projects or teams.
  • Familiarity with AI-generated RTL or using verification results to guide automated design and repair.
  • Experience as an early technical hire at a semiconductor or electronic design automation startup.

About the Company

Architect Labs

AI-driven automated ASIC chip design platform

Architect Labs develops AI-powered tools to automate and speed up ASIC design for the semiconductor industry. It combines artificial intelligence with an integrated workflow for hardware exploration, SystemVerilog construction, verification, and physical design to produce end-to-end, verified chip designs. The platform aims to discover new architectures and generate ready-to-tute designs that are validated for modern machine learning workloads, enabling hardware/material co-optimization between AI models and specialized silicon. Compared to traditional EDA and ASIC design services, Architect Labs focuses on AI-guided architecture search, automated verification, and full-stack co-design to reduce time, cost, and labor in chip development. The goal is to shorten multi-year design timelines, lower upfront costs, and empower more specialized, high-performance silicon for data centers, automotive, robotics, and edge applications.
