Requirements
  • High school graduation or GED.
  • One year or more of experience in custodial, environmental services, hospitality, warehouse, production, or facilities maintenance.
  • Experience following basic work instructions.
  • Ability to read and understand work orders, written instructions, product labels and instructions, and other written job materials.
  • Ability and willingness to be an effective team member.
  • A Class C operator's driver's license and a current three-year driving record are required; a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident if applicable.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions, around chemical fumes and chemicals, on stairs and ladders, and while lifting and moving heavy items.
  • Successful completion of a background check and functional employment test is required.
Responsibilities
  • Repair and evaluate the need for repairs using knowledge of commercial building construction, electrical, plumbing, and interior building construction, including reading blueprints, circuit breakers, ballasts, pump motors, floor drains, water mains, steam and chill water pipes, sump pumps, wall repair, carpentry, door hanging and framing, floor and wall tile, ceiling grid, and painting.
  • Repair and maintain 12 automatic A-2 Brunswick pinsetters and related equipment in the Underground bowling alley.
  • Review general maintenance needs for the area in collaboration with the Senior Retail Manager and Retail Manager.
  • Clean, oil, and lubricate machinery.
  • Train staff on basic repairs of the pinsetters.
  • Maintain equipment according to pinsetter manuals.
  • Create a preventive maintenance program for the machines and monitor the program.
  • Use a personal computer for email, timesheets, timekeeping, reports, service work orders, and other related business needs.
  • Troubleshoot recurring pinsetter malfunctions.
  • Order and maintain a minimum inventory of machine parts, and provide an inventory of these parts by quantity and cost.
  • Follow fire, environmental, and HAZMAT safety codes and regulations, including fire alarms, exhaust vents, MSDS sheets, grease traps, and warning labels, tags, and signs.
  • Maintain knowledge of and adhere to federal, state, and university compliance regulations and codes.
  • Perform job responsibilities safely and securely, ensuring the safety of students, staff, patrons, tools, equipment, and work areas.
  • Assist in tracking the inventory of tools and equipment and maintain tools and equipment safely and securely to ensure their life expectancy.
  • Drive a university or personal vehicle for errands or transportation between University Unions facilities.
Desired Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree.
  • More than one year of experience in custodial, environmental services, hospitality, warehouse, production, or facilities maintenance.
  • Experience working at a university.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with supervisors and peer groups in a timely and effective manner.
  • Certification in Brunswick equipment maintenance and repair.
