- Provide medical patient care by interviewing, examining, and treating clinical patients to meet their medical needs.
- Diagnose illnesses and prescribe and administer treatment for patients suffering from disease or illness.
- Obtain and review patient medical histories.
- Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests, studies, and ancillary services.
- Counsel patients regarding preventive healthcare, hygiene, diet, wellness, prevention, and early detection.
- Determine required referrals based on examination and patient needs.
- Determine the urgency of follow-up and referral or consultation appointments.
- Exercise final medical judgment in healthcare matters.
- Prescribe medical treatment and clinical drugs to patients.
- Document all services in patient medical records.
- Regularly review long-term cases requiring ongoing medical attention.
- Consult with the Medical Director and other staff professionals regarding patient care, assessment, and education issues.
- Participate in process improvement, management, continuing education, and other patient care programs established by hospital or clinic requirements.
- Oversee assigned mid-level medical staff and nursing clinical staff.
- Assist with resolving patient complaints, requests, and inquiries.
- Provide customer service consistent with the organization's mission, values, and standards.
- Board certification or board eligibility in Emergency Medicine.
