Requirements
  • A high school degree or equivalent is required; a combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in the automotive repair industry is required.
  • Automotive Service Excellence certification is preferred.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid operator’s license.
  • Must achieve satisfactory pre-employment and post-employment screening results.
  • Must demonstrate effective organizational and analytical skills.
  • Must demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be able to interact effectively with others.
  • Must have advanced knowledge of personal-computer-based automotive equipment and software applications.
  • Must be able to respond to customer inquiries and refer customers to associates who can assist with Car Care, Travel, Insurance, Membership, Discounts, Financial Services, and other retail products.
  • Must be able to adjust the work schedule and priorities to meet business needs.
  • Must be able to lift equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, stand for prolonged periods, and use fine and gross motor skills in an automotive shop environment.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee all Service Department functions and activities at the Car Care Center to ensure effective store operation.
  • Sell automotive parts, mechanical and maintenance services, tires, and batteries.
  • Manage the performance, production, quality, and professional development of Service Advisors and sales associates in alignment with company standards.
  • Influence customer satisfaction and profitability by delivering high-quality, timely service and adhering to Car Care policies and procedures.
  • Supervise and mentor Repair Technicians and assign work based on skill levels.
  • Assist in hiring, evaluating, training, and developing Repair Technicians and Service Advisors.
  • Provide firm, fair, and consistent management of all associates.
  • Verify that vehicle repairs and maintenance are completed accurately and professionally according to manufacturer guidelines and industry practices.
  • Retest repaired systems and road-test vehicles as needed.
  • Manage communication between the Car Care Center and customers, including repair updates, permissions, agreements, and expectations.
  • Assist Service Advisors and Sales Associates in explaining repair recommendations and obtaining customer approval for necessary repairs.
  • Organize work to maximize efficiency in vehicle movement, parts procurement, and other job functions.
  • Manage store operations and sales in the Manager’s absence, including creating estimates and work orders and assisting at the sales counter.
  • Open and close the Car Care store and ensure proper scheduling and management.
  • Implement Car Care policies and procedures and ensure compliance with OSHA, M.A.P., state, and Hazmat regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and ensure proper maintenance of tools and equipment.
  • Evaluate new equipment and follow safety protocols.
  • Complete paperwork accurately, including repair information on work orders and state and emissions inspection details.
  • Review repair orders with Service Advisors and customers to ensure all requested repairs are completed.
  • Monitor workflow and communicate with Service Advisors and Sales Associates regarding wait times and productivity.
  • Maintain awareness of automotive products and general awareness of company offerings to enhance customer experiences and drive repeat business.
  • Attend automotive meetings and seminars as recommended by management.
