About the job

Requirements
  • 3-8 years of post-undergraduate experience in strategy consulting, private equity, or other finance roles such as investment banking, growth equity, corporate development, or strategic finance.
  • A strong academic record from a competitive institution and a degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
  • An investor mindset, analytical toolkit, and operator instinct, with comfort building models and working with product leaders or General Managers on decisions.
  • Expertise in building financial models, value creation plans, and analytical frameworks for capital allocation decisions.
  • Ability to synthesize complex systems and communicate clearly to senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to interact effectively with founders, CEOs, General Managers, board members, and investors.
  • Ability to translate high-level objectives into actionable work plans and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • High attention to detail and ability to see the bigger picture.
  • Demonstrated high agency and comfort building the playbook.
  • Curiosity and willingness to use artificial intelligence tools heavily in day-to-day work.
  • Integrity and trust in all interactions.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deliverables simultaneously with different timelines.
Responsibilities
  • Partner with industry sector leaders and portfolio company General Managers as the financial decision-making engine across Beacon’s portfolio companies.
  • Translate product, artificial intelligence, and operator intuition into investment decisions, including pricing changes, sales hires, direct marketing investments, engineering allocation, and tuck-in mergers and acquisitions.
  • Build value creation plans, set budgets and targets, and make day-to-day capital decisions that drive growth across companies.
  • Help own platform-level capital allocation, including organic platform investment versus inorganic mergers and acquisitions, platform-level acquisitions versus tuck-ins, and corporate debt versus equity.
  • Build analytical rigor behind platform-level bets and ensure capital is deployed where returns are most asymmetric.
  • Own thesis through acquisition through ownership for new strategy extensions, beginning with software-plus-services vertical integration in end markets where Beacon already owns software.
  • Partner with the mergers and acquisitions team on execution while driving strategy, diligence, and post-close build.
  • Lead Beacon’s debt strategy, support future equity raises, and prepare Beacon for an eventual initial public offering.
  • Build debt and equity investor relations and position Beacon as an institutional-grade capital allocator.
  • Partner with Beacon’s chief technology officer and engineering leadership on company-wide tools that scale across the portfolio, including BeaconOS and artificial intelligence-native financial systems.
  • Build systems, dashboards, and decision frameworks that let sector leaders and General Managers self-serve financial answers and enable the finance function to scale with the portfolio.
Desired Qualifications
  • Familiarity with vertical market software, buy-and-build models, and operating dynamics of small-to-mid-sized software businesses.
  • Experience at a top private equity, growth equity, or hedge fund.
  • Experience at a top strategy consulting firm or equivalent.
  • Experience in strategic finance or corporate development.
  • Experience at another serial acquirer, especially in software or vertical-market roll-ups.
  • Investment banking experience at a top-tier firm with software, technology, or mergers and acquisitions coverage.

About the company

Beacon Software is a long-term home for vertical software companies in the real economy. It buys, builds, and grows software businesses, preserving their legacy while expanding founders’ ambitions. Unlike private equity that aims to flip, Beacon holds forever, investing in product, customers, and teams and sharing resources for scale. Founders gain in-house engineering, AI, design, and fintech expertise, plus access to a network spanning Silicon Valley, Wall Street, and Main Street. Beacon simplifies back-office operations, accelerates growth with proven playbooks, and lets founders focus on building software for their markets. Each portfolio company stays independent with its own brand and customers but benefits from shared resources and immediate value creation. The goal is to help founder-by-founder, company-by-company, win larger contracts, modernize technology, and expand market share by providing a sustainable, collaborative home for software growth.
