Requirements
  • Graduation from a recognized Licensed Practical Nursing program and licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in South Carolina or a compact state.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification is required, either from the American Heart Association for Healthcare Providers or an American Heart Association-recognized equivalent, or from the American Red Cross for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
  • Ability to perform the listed physical functions, including lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds unassisted, frequent fine and gross motor movements, and maintaining required visual, hearing, tactile, and olfactory functions.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts and overtime as required.
  • Ability to work in a latex-safe environment.
  • Ability to deal effectively with stressful situations and qualify physically for respirator use initially and as required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide patient- and family-centered care while serving as a trusted partner and resource.
  • Support patients and families as they manage healthcare needs while respecting their culture, values, health goals, and treatment preferences.
  • Apply critical thinking and sound clinical judgment to support timely and appropriate patient care.
  • Recognize and report changes in a patient's condition to the appropriate clinical provider.
  • Assist physicians and other medical professionals with patient preparation, examinations, treatments, and procedures.
  • Interview and screen patients to collect personal information, medical history, symptoms, and chief complaints.
  • Obtain and document vital signs and other required clinical information.
  • Perform telephone and in-person patient screenings.
  • Accurately document patient care, clinical findings, and relevant information in the medical record.
  • Review patient concerns with the appropriate provider when treatment guidance, medication instructions, or changes to the plan of care may be required.
  • Respond to and prioritize patient telephone calls regarding symptoms, medications, medical conditions, and other clinical concerns, as assigned.
  • Prepare, clean, and stock examination rooms and assigned clinical areas.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming environment for patients and team members.
  • Perform additional duties within the Licensed Practical Nurse's authorized scope of practice, as assigned.
