About the role  

Roku seeks a talented, well-rounded Product Design intern who can craft easy-to-use and delightful product experiences at the intersection of 10’ UI and hardware devices, like remote controls, that create a fantastic Roku entertainment experience. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work directly with a senior UX product designer.

For California Only - The estimated annual salary for this position is between $28 -55 per hour. Compensation packages are based on factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, certifications, and specific geographical location. What you’ll be doing

Contribute to revolutionizing the Roku players and remote control experiences by considering software and hardware designs from the ground up.
Design holistically to create a cohesive and coherent product experience. 
Communicate the user experience at various stages of the design process with wireframes, flow diagrams, storyboards, mockups, specs, and lightweight prototypes.  
Balance qualitative and quantitative data to make user-centered design decisions.  
Work closely with Product Managers to identify the problems and business goals that your designs will address.  
Utilize user journeys to help guide and frame your design approaches.  
Partner with strong User Researchers to determine and execute the ideal research methodology to evaluate your designs.  
Own your designs and communicate effectively, articulating your design decisions to colleagues from diverse disciplines.  
Give and receive feedback in regular design critiques with your peers.
Work in Figma to create OS components for use by the UX Design Team  
Work closely with the UX Design Team to ensure best Design System practices.  
Work with the Design Systems team on at least one Roku OS product feature.  
Learn about what it means to work on a hardware platform.

We are excited if you have

Hands-on experience working with Figma  
Familiarity with Design Systems  
Meticulous attention to detail  
Hands-on experience working with User Researchers (or conducting User Research yourself) and utilizing the results of that research to shape your designs  
Familiarity with industrial design
Obtained or working toward a relevant degree (Interaction Design, Human Factors, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Computer Science, etc.…)
