Requirements
  • 0–1 year of relevant experience is required.
  • Currently enrolled at an accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • A high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalent certificate is required.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
Responsibilities
  • Assist in preparing federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and other entities.
  • Organize and review client-provided financial information to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Use tax software and tools to input data and calculate tax liabilities, deductions, and credits.
  • Conduct tax research to interpret and apply relevant tax laws, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Analyze financial statements, records, and documentation to identify tax-saving opportunities and compliance issues.
  • Assist in preparing tax projections and estimates to guide clients in making informed financial decisions.
  • Communicate with clients to gather necessary information and address inquiries related to tax matters.
  • Assist in explaining tax concepts and implications to clients clearly and understandably.
  • Collaborate with the internal team to provide timely updates and recommendations to clients on their tax situations.
  • Ensure adherence to tax regulations and deadlines and file tax returns accurately and timely.
  • Maintain organized and comprehensive tax files and documentation for each client engagement.
  • Assist in tracking changes in tax laws and regulations and their potential impact on clients.
  • Collaborate with other tax professionals within the firm to share insights, knowledge, and best practices.
  • Support senior team members in complex tax projects, including audits and specialized tax services.
  • Participate in internal training sessions to enhance technical skills and stay updated on industry trends.
Desired Qualifications
  • A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.
  • Actively working toward achieving Certified Public Accountant or Enrolled Agent licensure, or a relevant certification, is preferred if not already attained.
  • Responsible for completing the minimum continuing professional education credit requirement.
  • Experience with CCH ProSystem fx, Axcess Tax, Axcess Document, Axcess Workstream, Thomson Reuters Fixed Assets CS, and Checkpoint for Tax Research is preferred.

UHY acquires Michigan CFO Associates to expand advisory services

UHY, ranked No. 26 on Accounting Today's 2026 Top 100 Firms list, has acquired Michigan CFO Associates to expand its advisory capabilities. MICFO, founded in 2006 and based in Clinton Township, Michigan, provides fractional CFO and financial leadership services to entrepreneur-led businesses. UHY reported $471 million in revenue with roughly 200 partners and over 2,000 staff across 40 offices. The acquisition follows UHY's private equity investment from Summit Partners in December 2024, which has fuelled multiple acquisitions. "As entrepreneurs navigate increasing complexity, they need strategic financial insight," said Steven McCarty, CEO of UHY. The firm's client advisory services practice is growing rapidly.

UHY acquires CMJ, expands New York presence following $385M private equity boost

UHY has acquired CMJ, expanding the Top 50 firm's presence in New York State and adding expertise in construction and financial services. The deal adds one office to UHY, with CMJ founders Paul Curtis and William Jeffreys joining as partners alongside their staff. UHY, ranked No. 26 on Accounting Today's 2025 Top 100 Firms list, reported $385 million in revenue with 190 partners and over 1,700 employees across 35 offices. The acquisition follows UHY's December 2024 private equity investment from Summit Partners, which has fuelled significant M&A activity. In 2025 alone, UHY has expanded into the St Louis area through acquisitions of Sabino & Co. and Botz Deal & Co., and added Tama, Budaj & Raab in Michigan.

UHY Merges with Flynn & Co. in Ohio

UHY, a top 30 accounting firm, has expanded into Ohio by merging with Cincinnati-based CPA firm Flynn & Co. Financial terms were not disclosed. This merger marks UHY's first Cincinnati office, led by Managing Partner Richard Flynn. UHY's CEO, Steven McCarty, highlighted Cincinnati's economic growth and the merger's potential to enhance client services. This is UHY's third M&A deal since receiving private equity funding from Summit Partners last December. UHY has over 2,000 professionals in 42 U.S. offices.
