Requirements
A high school diploma or equivalent.
Fluency in English and at least one additional language commonly spoken by English as a Second Language families, such as Spanish or Somali.
Strong verbal and written communication skills in both English and the second language to facilitate translation and interpretation.
Commitment to working four days a week.
Commitment to working school-year hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 3:00–7:00 p.m., and Wednesday from 2:30–7:00 p.m.
Commitment to working at the Club during the summer for 25–35 hours per week.
Valid CPR certification or the ability to obtain and maintain CPR certification within 90 days of employment.
The mental and physical capacity to observe, interact, and communicate with youth, staff, and volunteers at the Club to ensure safety and provide guidance.
Ability to stand or sit for long periods throughout a shift.
This position is safety-sensitive.
Responsibilities
Assist English as a Second Language and non-English-speaking families with Club orientation and enrollment.
Provide direct support to English as a Second Language members to ensure a positive Club experience.
Translate Club materials, including programming signage, newsletters, flyers, incident reports, and closure information.
Update and translate signage to ensure it is accessible to all members.
Provide translation assistance during parent meetings and communication with English as a Second Language families.
Lead, supervise, and provide feedback to assigned Youth Development Professionals and volunteers.
Ensure programs align with the Club’s goals and meet the needs of youth participants.
Ensure proper youth supervision and maintain a welcoming, secure environment.
Communicate with English as a Second Language families, community members, and schools.
Address youth behavior challenges by implementing corrective actions and support plans.
Maintain a clean, safe, and attractive environment for members, staff, and property.
Participate in and provide training for staff, and support special programs and events.
Apply cultural diversity and sensitivity when working with non-English-speaking families.
Build trust and foster positive relationships with diverse communities.
Address conflicts or issues to ensure a positive environment for participants.

TITLE: Lead English as Second Language (ESL) Youth Development Professional REPORTS TO: Program Coordinator CLASSIFIED: Part Time, Non-Exempt

JOB SUMMARY: The Lead ESL (English as a Second Language) Youth Development Professional plays a key role in supporting ESL and non-English-speaking families within the Boys & Girls Club. This position assists families with the enrollment process, provides direct support to ESL members in daily programming, and offers translation services for Club signage, marketing materials, incident reports, and family communication. The Lead ESL Professional also organizes, supervises, and evaluates daily youth programs, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and enriching environment for all members while working closely with other staff.

Perform other duties as assigned.
EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree in education, youth development, social work, or a related field preferred.
Previous experience working with youth, particularly in an educational or after-school setting, is highly desirable.
Experience working with ESL or non-English-speaking populations is a plus.
Fluency in English and at least one additional language commonly spoken by ESL families (e.g., Spanish, Somali, etc.).

Valid CPR certification or the ability to obtain and maintain CPR certification within 90 days of employment. We provide this training in-house if you are not currently certified!
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
