Jeddah hotel rooftop pool built to last with Penetron System.

Jeddah hotel rooftop pool built to last with Penetron System. Oct 14, 2026, 04:00 ET The Hilton Garden Inn in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, was officially unveiled in late 2026, adding another notable luxury hospitality destination to the popular Red Sea resort. The Penetron System of crystalline concrete waterproofing products was specified to provide a durable waterproofing solution for the hotel's key concrete structures. ORLANDO, Fla., Oct. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ - "A rooftop swimming pool on a luxury hotel presents potentially serious design and performance risks, with hydrostatic loading on an elevated structural slab and guest rooms below exposed to any leakage," points out Sam Annous, Director and Partner of Penetron Middle East. While a traditional membrane system can offer installation speed, any membrane breach over the service life of the pool risks staining and damage to ceilings, walls, and guest rooms below. "The project brief for the Hilton Garden Inn was to protect the below-grade concrete structures and deliver a pool that remains watertight for the life of the building without relying on a surface membrane system," adds Sam Annous. The Penetron Middle East team specified an integral waterproofing approach using three Penetron systems working together: * PENETRON ADMIX, dosed at the batching plant, transforms structural concrete into a self-healing, waterproof matrix that resists chloride ingress, carbonation, and chemical attack. * PENEBAR SW45 swellable waterstop strips, combined with PENEBAR PRIMER, seal every construction joint and penetration, which are typically the weakest points in any water-retaining and below-grade structure. * PENETRON slurry and PENECRETE MORTAR are used to address localized cracks and tie holes and to finish any visible defects. Once exposed to moisture, PENETRON ADMIX reacts with calcium hydroxide and water to form insoluble crystalline structures within the concrete, sealing capillaries and static cracks up to 0.5 mm and reactivating when new moisture appears. The resulting resistance to hydrostatic pressure means the matrix itself becomes waterproof, with no surface layer to puncture, peel, or age out. After commissioning, the pool was filled and held for testing. The walls of the floor below were found to be almost entirely dry, with no water leakage detected beneath the slab. PENETRON ADMIX performed as a standalone waterproofing system, with no membrane required. "The Hilton Garden Inn in Jeddah is the latest Hilton Hotel project to specify the Penetron System," adds Sam Annous. "Our integral crystalline waterproofing solution continues to enjoy growing success across the region." The Penetron Group is a leading manufacturer of specialty construction products for concrete waterproofing, concrete repairs, and floor preparation systems. The Group operates through a global network, offering support to the design and construction community through its regional offices, representatives, and distribution channels. Hilton takes six first places.

Hilton takes six first places. Hilton dominates the 2026 Condé Nast Traveler awards with six first-place finishes across luxury hotels, resorts, and new openings in the U.S. and U.K. Hilton has secured six first-place finishes in the 2026 Condé Nast Traveler Readers' Choice Awards, with 53 properties across eight brands recognized in the U.S. and U.K. surveys. The results, released October 12, highlight the group's dominance in both city hotels and destination resorts, spanning regions from New Orleans to Beijing. The awards reflect reader preferences in separate categories for luxury hotels, resorts, and newly opened properties. Hilton's total of 26 top-five placements marks an increase from 47 recognized properties in 2025. The awards are based on regional and accommodation-specific rankings rather than a single global competition. Waldorf Astoria and Conrad lead the rankings. Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts accounted for four of the six category leaders in the U.S. survey. The Roosevelt New Orleans, a Waldorf Astoria property, was named the top hotel in New Orleans and placed 28th among hotels worldwide. Waldorf Astoria Atlanta Buckhead led the Atlanta hotel category, while Waldorf Astoria Helsinki was named the No. 1 hotel in Northern Europe in its opening year. In Mexico, Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal took the No. 1 resort position in Western Mexico for a third consecutive year. Conrad Hotels & Resorts claimed the remaining two first-place positions. Conrad Beijing topped the hotel category for the Chinese capital, and Conrad Koh Samui was voted the leading resort in Thailand. The results show Hilton's reach, with top-ranked properties in major cities and tropical destinations. Other Waldorf Astoria properties also performed strongly. Waldorf Astoria Chengdu was No. 2 among hotels in Asia; Waldorf Astoria Seychelles Platte Island ranked No. 3 among Indian Ocean resorts; Waldorf Astoria Orlando was No. 3 among Orlando resorts; and Rome Cavalieri, A Waldorf Astoria Hotel, was No. 5 among Rome hotels. Conrad Shenzhen placed No. 4 among hotels in Asia, with Conrad Osaka No. 6 among hotels in Japan. Hilton's success extends beyond its flagship brands. LXR Hotels & Resorts earned notable placements, including Oceana Santa Monica ranked No. 2 among hotels in Southern California, Ka La'i Waikīkī Beach was No. 4 among hotels in Hawaii, and Arizona Biltmore placed No. 6 among resorts in the Southwest. In the separate U.K. survey, Umana Bali was voted the No. 5 resort in Indonesia. Curio Collection and new openings drive recognition. The Curio Collection by Hilton contributed 13 properties to the U.S. survey results. Baker's Cay Resort Key Largo placed No. 3 among resorts in the Florida Keys, while Hotel Alpenrock Breckenridge ranked No. 3 among hotels in Colorado. Other appearances included The Morrison Dublin at No. 5 among hotels in Ireland, The Caledonian Edinburgh at No. 10 among hotels in the United Kingdom, and Hotel del Coronado at No. 13 among resorts in Southern California. Newly opened properties also made an impact. The Monarch San Antonio, Curio Collection by Hilton, and The Valorian West Hollywood, Curio Collection by Hilton, both opened in 2026 and ranked No. 8 among Texas hotels and No. 9 among Los Angeles hotels, respectively. Motto by Hilton made its awards debut through Motto by Hilton Nashville Downtown, the No. 6 hotel in the South in the U.S. survey. In the U.K. survey, Hilton Molino Stucky Venice ranked No. 6 among hotels in Venice; NoMad London placed No. 28 among hotels in the United Kingdom; and the Beverly Hilton was No. 19 among Los Angeles hotels in the U.S. survey. Chris Silcock, Hilton's president of global brands and commercial services, attributed the recognition to its hotel teams and linked the results to the group's wider brand development. The 39th edition of Condé Nast Traveler's Readers' Choice Awards will be published online and in the magazine's November issue.

Hilton adds Pittsburgh and Huntsville to Apartment Collection.

Hilton adds Pittsburgh and Huntsville to Apartment Collection. Hilton opened two apartment-style Placemakr properties under its Apartment Collection brand on 30 September 2026: Placemakr Pittsburgh Downtown and Anthem House in Huntsville, Alabama. Two Placemakr properties join Apartment Collection by Hilton. Hilton opened two apartment-style Placemakr properties under its Apartment Collection brand in Pittsburgh and Huntsville, Alabama. A Hilton spokesperson confirmed the openings to Hotel Dive, which published the item on 1 October 2026. The two properties are Placemakr Pittsburgh Downtown, Apartments by Hilton, and Anthem House - Placemakr Huntsville, Apartments by Hilton. Both opened on 30 September, according to the Hilton spokesperson. They join Apartment Collection properties in Utah, Georgia and Austin, Texas. Pittsburgh: the Pennsylvanian's ballroom and in-unit laundry. The Pittsburgh property occupies the historic Pennsylvanian building downtown, steps from the city's Cultural District. Its website lists a historic ballroom for meetings and events, cooking areas and in-unit laundry. The ballroom is the property's meetings space. Acram Group owns the Pittsburgh property, according to Asian Hospitality. Huntsville: A pool, a fitness center and coworking space. The Huntsville property sits inside a luxury apartment building in the MidCity District, steps from the Orion Amphitheater. Its own page lists a resort-style pool, a 24/7 fitness center, coworking spaces, chef-ready kitchens and in-unit laundry, and Hotel Dive records versatile spaces for meetings and events at the property. The listed address is 945 Mid City Drive NW. RCP Companies developed the Huntsville building with Revolution Capital as capital partner, and the unit mix runs to 330 studio, studio plus and one-bedroom units, according to 256today. Both buildings opened under the Placemakr flag. Placemakr opened both buildings in 2025. Huntsville opened in April 2025 as the company's first Alabama property. Hilton describes both as existing Placemakr-operated, mixed-use apartment hospitality properties that joined its portfolio on 30 September with reservations open, per Asian Hospitality. Both buildings are now bookable on Hilton channels. Michael Snapkoski on growth in two markets. Michael Snapkoski, brand leader of Apartment Collection by Hilton, wrote in a LinkedIn post that the openings mark another important step in the continued growth of the brand and expand Hilton's presence in two dynamic markets. Snapkoski was named brand leader in April. The January partnership and three thousand units. Hilton launched Apartment Collection by Hilton in January in partnership with Placemakr, the apartment hospitality brand. Hilton's announcement of 15 January states that the partnership builds on an existing global inventory of approximately 10,000 apartment-style units and will add as many as 3,000 new units. The first two properties under the brand debuted earlier this year in Atlanta and Salt Lake City. Placemakr lists Scout Living PCM Placemakr Atlanta, Placemakr Salt Lake City Downtown, Placemakr Austin Downtown and Placemakr Pittsburgh Downtown as bookable on Hilton channels, with more properties to follow. Two opening dates from two Hilton documents. Asian Hospitality reported the same two properties and the same 30 September date. It records that the date runs earlier than the October date carried in a Hilton openings-and-renovations release of 25 September, so two Hilton documents disagree on the Huntsville date by up to a month. The aparthotel field around the brand. Hotel Dive places the openings against a set of aparthotel moves. Marriott International runs Apartments by Marriott Bonvoy. Wyndham Hotels & Resorts entered a 10-year United States partnership with Reside to launch Reside, a Wyndham Residence. Kasa entered a strategic combination with Mint House in January. What Hilton has not published. Hilton published no Hilton-branded unit count for either new property, according to Asian Hospitality.

Milestone for Hampton by Hilton Hotel at Fettlers regeneration scheme. 12 Oct 2026, 16:10 Construction of the Hampton by Hilton Hotel at Fettlers has reached a major milestone, with the six-storey building now topped out. The 144-bedroom hotel is being brought forward by Cityheart in partnership with Wigan Council, with Galliford Try leading construction works. The topping out marks a step forward for the hotel, the second phase to be completed at the emerging Fettlers Neighbourhood alongside the new market hall which is on track to open in winter 2027. The milestone comes as the project team unveils the hotel's first completed mock-up room, offering stakeholders, residents and visitors an early look at the guest experience ahead of opening. Designed by JM Architects' Manchester studio, the approximately 60,000 sq ft hotel occupies a prominent position overlooking Fettlers' new public square and will bring a globally recognised hospitality brand into the town centre. The hotel will feature guestrooms, a gym with views across the square, dining and meeting facilities and secure car parking. It will be owned by Wigan Council and operated by leaf HOSPITALITY under the Hampton by Hilton brand, one of Hilton's largest most recognised brands. The hotel forms part of Fettlers, the transformation of the former Galleries site into a new mixed-use neighbourhood in the centre of Wigan which, once complete, will deliver a new Market Hall, public realm, leisure facilities, alongside more than 400 new homes. The next major milestone for Fettlers will see the opening of the new Market Hall, which is scheduled to welcome its first visitors in Spring 2027 and will be the first completed element of the wider development. Cllr Dane Anderton, portfolio holder for economic development and regeneration, said: "Reaching the topping-out stage is a significant milestone for the Hampton by Hilton Hotel and the wider Fettlers development in Wigan town centre. "It's fantastic to see this landmark building taking shape and another key part of our vision for the town centre becoming a reality. "The hotel will bring new jobs, attract visitors and investment, and help create a vibrant destination that residents can be proud of as the transformation of the town centre continues." Darren Jones, senior development director at Cityheart, said: "Alongside new homes, public spaces, and the Market Hall, the hotel demonstrates the scale of transformation now taking shape across the site. "Seeing the building reach its full height gives a real sense of the neighbourhood that is beginning to emerge." Paul Blackmore, vice president, Development, UK & Ireland, Hilton, added: "The hotel reflects the strength of our partnerships with Wigan Council, Cityheart and leaf HOSPITALITY and reaching this milestone is an exciting moment for everyone involved in bringing Hampton by Hilton to Wigan. "We now look forward to the opening of the hotel next year, which will not only help attract visitors to the town but support the long-term regeneration of the Fettlers neighbourhood." Richard Farrar, managing director of Leaf HOSPITALITY, said: "The progress on site over the past few months has been impressive and reflects the work of everyone involved. "It's exciting to see the hotel taking shape, and in the new year our focus will turn to building the team and recruiting locally ahead of opening later in 2027."
