Requirements
  • Must meet the official North Carolina definition of a Qualified Professional (QP).
  • Have at least five years of supervisory and management experience and/or five years of dedicated experience working within human services.
  • Possess a deep, working knowledge of the behavioral sciences and allied disciplines related to Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD).
  • Demonstrate communication, leadership, adaptability, and complex problem-solving skills.
  • Have reliable access to high-speed internet, a functional cell phone, and reliable transportation.
  • Be able to sit, stand, walk, and lift up to 50 pounds as required by field conditions.
  • Meet at least one state-defined educational criterion: hold a valid license, provisional license, certificate, registration, or permit issued by a governing board regulating a human service profession; have a graduate degree in a human service field paired with at least one year of post-graduate experience; have a bachelor's degree in a human service field paired with at least two years of post-graduate experience; or have a bachelor's degree in any non-human service field paired with at least four years of post-graduate experience.
Responsibilities
  • Own staffing for the assigned team and caseloads, actively recruit and fill open roles, and ensure adequate coverage.
  • Manage a caseload of 25–30 active cases, match staff to cases based on skills, personality, and fit, and ensure timely staffing and policy compliance.
  • Oversee direct care staff, lead monthly Direct Support Professional supervision meetings, and deliver ongoing training.
  • Maintain compliance with North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services and state rules, Medicaid and state waivers, managed care organization requirements, and company policies.
  • Conduct person-centered assessments, set measurable goals, and develop clinically accurate and medically necessary Individualized Support Plans.
  • Review and approve Individualized Support Plan documentation, assessments, progress notes, and related records; sign off on new or updated plans and coordinate timely uploads with Medical Records.
  • Review note reports daily, train staff on documentation practices, approve compliant entries, issue corrections, and monitor underutilized reports to optimize service delivery.
  • Report incidents to Quality Management through the internal Incident Reporting process and support Incident Reporting and Incident Reporting Information System entries for Level 2 and Level 3 incidents.
  • Partner with Quality Management to identify risks, recurring incidents, and service gaps; participate in risk-reduction activities and assist with Plans of Correction.
  • Lead and participate in internal audits and Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities activities, prepare documentation and regulatory responses, and maintain audit readiness.
  • Review data and billing for accuracy and compliance, monitor authorization status monthly, and complete service limit sheets for each authorization.
  • Secure valid consents from individuals and legally responsible persons and support annual consent updates.
  • Build relationships with managed care organizations, collaborating agencies, families, and company leadership; represent the organization in community activities and interagency meetings.
  • Manage administrative workflows including authorizations, progress reports, and documentation reviews.
  • Train staff on individual client needs, Individualized Support Plan requirements, and programmatic benchmarks; lead staff development initiatives.
  • Provide guidance and accountability metrics for Direct Support Professional performance, administer corrective actions, and facilitate policy updates.
  • Provide on-call crisis services as required and maintain compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
  • Collaborate with the Supported Career Services Director on service updates or treatment-plan additions for assigned members.
  • Partner with the Nursing team to ensure accurate medication documentation and compliance.
  • Assist with collecting medication administration documentation and updating physician-order changes with the Nursing team.
  • Document and report side effects, medical changes, and hospital visits to the Nursing team.
  • Mentor newly hired staff and incoming Qualified Professionals in collaboration with Clinical Directors and executive leadership.
  • Assist with special agency projects, training curricula, job shadowing, and individualized staff development.
  • Complete additional operational duties as requested by leadership.
