Homebase Engineering values technical leaders who are passionate about building great products and platforms, delivering customer impact, and empowering engineering teams to be successful. 

Partnering with Engineering Leadership, you will play a key role in defining how our engineering practice operates and how our engineers grow their skill sets.  You will use your technical experience and your influence to develop technical approaches that will improve Hombase’s ability to deliver a resilient platform and world-class product for our Homebase customers. 

The successful candidate is a Staff Engineer who has excellent judgment and helps balance short-term needs with long-term organizational impact.

• Partner with product and engineering teams to define long-term strategy, prioritize, and execute based on impact
• Influence and inspire technical teams by setting an example of engineering excellence in design, architecture, code, and engineering practices
• Design and code systems that are testable, maintainable, reliable, secure, and scalable while taking Engineering Technical Strategy into context
• Partner with engineering leadership and across engineering teams to take on domain-wide projects
• Guide the team in the adoption of sound engineering practices, and serve as a mentor for engineers

You are a bar raiser, which means you come with

• 7+ years of experience in software design and development
• Experience in Ruby on Rails or similar object oriented programming languages
• Experience developing web applications using React and related technologies
• Experience in aws or other similar cloud providers
• Proven ability to diagnose, understand, and resolve technical problems that span teams and technologies
• Ability to use influence to develop and promote effective engineering practices
