About the job

Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree is required, but no specific field of study is required.
  • At least 5 years of progressive experience in renewable energy project development, with a track record of bringing at least 500 MW of United States solar or battery storage projects to Notice to Proceed or commercial operation.
  • Advanced proficiency building and maintaining Excel-based project financial models for high-density commercial and industrial, behind-the-meter solar, storage, or microgrid economics.
  • Comfort engaging directly with customer teams in a supporting capacity, including answering questions, technical scoping, and contract and performance follow-through.
  • Experience pitching multi-million-dollar projects directly to senior leadership or investment decision-makers.
Responsibilities
  • Support data-driven site identification for behind-the-meter deployments by evaluating land and site suitability, local utility tariff structures, and site-level constraints using geographic information system and spatial analysis tools.
  • Partner with the company's land and site-selection consulting firm on site leases, easements, and landlord-tenant agreements.
  • Provide energy and project-development context to shape site criteria and validate technical fit beyond the generalist land consultant's expertise.
  • Work with the engineering team to build the technical interconnection between generation and storage assets and a customer's on-site electrical infrastructure, including substation interfaces, switchgear capacity, and site electrical design.
  • Guide site-level permitting strategy, including zoning, environmental, and fire and electrical code approvals for battery storage, including NFPA 855 and NEC/NFPA 70, to validate feasibility, keep projects on schedule, and shape deal terms.
  • Track regulatory and market shifts, and develop front-of-the-meter, utility-scale grid-interconnection capability, including ISO/RTO queue management, interconnection agreements, and utility negotiation, as the company expands beyond behind-the-meter.
  • Build and own project financial models to evaluate IRR, NPV, and cash flows for individual assets and site portfolios, validating inputs such as EPC capital costs, real estate costs, manufacturing and engineering complexity, interconnection costs, and data-center-host tariff structures.
  • Model behind-the-meter value streams for data-center hosts, including power reliability and resiliency, demand-charge management, and peak shaving, sized to each host's tariff structure and criticality requirements.
  • Translate project data and risk profiles into business cases, and present development and capital-deployment milestones and investment recommendations to the leadership team.
  • Support customer conversations led by the leadership team by handling technical, regulatory, and financial questions and feasibility scoping.
  • Drive technical responses to customer RFPs, RFQs, and RFIs, partnering with leadership on positioning and pricing.
  • Support contract negotiations led by leadership by owning technical contract exhibits, including capacity commitments, performance guarantees, interconnection and delivery milestones, and technical specifications.
  • Contribute strategic input on business terms and track project performance and delivery against commitments after signature.
  • As the pipeline grows, help recruit, mentor, and build a team of project developers, financial analysts, and real estate specialists.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience developing energy projects for critical infrastructure, large-scale industrial plants, or digital-infrastructure campuses.
  • Comfort evaluating inorganic opportunities, such as land or late-stage project acquisitions, as a complement to organic site development; this is not a day-one expectation.
  • Experience owning technical interconnection between generation and storage assets and a customer's on-site electrical infrastructure; utility-scale grid-interconnection experience, including ISO/RTO queues and interconnection agreements, is a plus and will become increasingly important if the company expands beyond behind-the-meter.
  • Familiarity with utility tariff structures and regulatory and tax considerations affecting behind-the-meter project economics, such as rate design, property-tax abatements, and economic-development incentives.
  • Experience managing or mentoring a development or project-finance team.
  • A degree in finance, engineering, business, or a quantitative discipline is a plus; an MBA or advanced technical degree is a further plus.

About the company

Ambrosia Energy builds, owns, and operates solar plus battery plants that deliver continuous off-grid power for data centers and industrial users. It offers two options: co-locating at a West Texas site or building a plant on a customer’s site, with end-to-end management of land, permitting, battery manufacturing, and operations. The core product is a complete solar-plus-battery system that maintains high capacity even when the grid isn’t used, targeting a 99.9% capacity factor and using lithium iron phosphate cells with a fast-installation method. By vertically integrating the entire process and offering turnkey delivery, Ambrosia aims for about $100 per MWh, with contract-to-power in roughly 12 months, providing a practical alternative to natural gas for large-scale power needs.

Ambrosia Energy begins work on 10-gwh Texas battery factory.

Ambrosia Energy begins work on 10-gwh Texas battery factory. The 150,000-square-foot facility near Austin is expected to reach full production in two to three years as the startup develops power plants for data centers. Published Oct 14, 2026, 3:54 PM EDT Ambrosia Energy has begun work on a battery factory near Austin, Texas, with planned annual capacity of 10 gigawatt-hours, supporting its effort to build power plants for data centers. The factory will span 150,000 square feet and is expected to reach full production in two to three years. Co-founder and CEO Ben Longmier said its output could support about 300 megawatts of power-plant capacity annually. Ambrosia plans to begin work later this year on its first commercial power plant in West Texas. The project is designed to combine 300 megawatts of solar panels with 660 megawatt-hours of batteries, supplying 30 megawatts of continuous power with a target uptime of 99.3%. The company's system uses solar panels to power a data center during daylight hours and charge batteries. Those batteries are intended to supply power at night and on cloudy days, keeping the facility running around the clock. Longmier has said Ambrosia aims to provide power at $100 per megawatt-hour. Ambrosia's pilot plant can generate 200 kilowatts continuously, and sections have operated for more than 100 days, Longmier said. Longmier and co-founder Sara Spangelo previously founded Swarm, a satellite company later sold to SpaceX. Simon Yoon. Simon Yoon reports on blockchain technology for TokenPost. Ambrosia Energy to build 10GWh Texas battery factory for off-grid data centres

Ambrosia Energy has begun work on a 10 gigawatt-hour battery factory near Austin, Texas, co-founder and chief executive officer Ben Longmier said at TechCrunch Disrupt in San Francisco on Tuesday. The 150,000-square-foot plant should reach full production in two to three years. The startup builds off-grid solar-plus-battery power plants for data centers at a cost of $100 per megawatt-hour. Longmier said the factory will allow it to build about 300 megawatts of capacity a year. Ambrosia will also start work on its first commercial plant in West Texas later this year. It will pair 300 megawatts of solar panels with 660 megawatt-hours of batteries to deliver 30 megawatts of continuous power, aiming for 99.3% uptime. Longmier said a pilot plant has run continuously for more than 100 days. Ambrosia buys cells and makes its own packs, which it says cuts costs to about 1.3x the bare cell price.

Tesla investor Jurvetson backs SpaceX alumni targeting $100/MWh solar power for AI data centres

Early Tesla and SpaceX investor Steve Jurvetson is backing Ambrosia Energy, a startup founded by former SpaceX executives Ben Longmier and Sara Spangelo. The company aims to solve artificial intelligence's growing electricity demand through off-grid solar and battery systems for data centres. Jurvetson's venture firm DFJ Growth announced the investment on Wednesday. Ambrosia targets electricity costs of around $100 per megawatt-hour with 99.9% availability and deployment within one year. The startup vertically integrates land acquisition, permitting, engineering, battery manufacturing, and construction. Its system combines solar power with 24-hour lithium-iron-phosphate battery storage, using a proprietary installation method designed to deploy panels 12 times faster than conventional approaches. Spangelo and Longmier previously co-founded Swarm Technologies, which SpaceX acquired in 2021. Ambrosia's next project targets 200 MW of solar capacity delivering 20 MW of continuous power.
